Bible Verses About Affirmation

Discover Bible Verses About Affirmation. An affirmation is an action or process of stating emphatically or publicly something. An affirmation reveals emotional support or encouragement for something. Affirmations in New Thought and New Age terminology refer primarily to the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment – fostering a belief that “a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything.” The issue with affirmations or making positive affirmations to achieve better or desirable results is the way the world regards it. While the world wants to trust in herself, the Christian’s trust should be in the Lord God and what He says. Christian affirmations and memorizing Scripture are important. Being able to remind yourself of who you are in the eyes of God on hard days can make an awful day seem not so terrible.

What are positive affirmations? Positive affirmations are positive statements to change one’s thoughts from negative to positive in order to get through hard times. What are Christian affirmations? Christian affirmations are positive, encouraging statements based on Biblical truths. These Biblical affirmations remind us of who we are in the eyes of God and what He is saying about our situation. As such, we are putting our focus and trust in God and not in ourselves. Human nature is unreliable and as such our source of Encouragement, Strength, Hope, and Truth should be God. Note that Words Have Power and as such it’s important for us to confess our faith through affirmations.
Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Matthew 12:36 says, “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.”

Confession as an Affirmation of Faith

The word “confess” means to make a public avowal. Some people are likely to paint the word “confession” with negative meanings, as in confessing one’s sins or failures or admitting to a crime. Nevertheless, admitting one’s sins before God and requesting His mercy is part of a Christian’s spiritual journey as the Bible says all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23-24). There is another confession known as the confession of belief in which we hear phrases like “I believe in God, the Father Almighty,” and “Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.” Church services are generally a “confession” of our belief in God and His saving mercy through Jesus Christ. These two concepts of “confession” are found throughout the Bible.

In many ways, the Bible is an explicit story of how people confessed faith and how they confessed their failures to live up to that faith. The importance of confessing belief and sin are central tenets of the New Testament. Jesus Christ illustrated this idea of confession of sin and belief in most of his parables. Luke 9:26 says, “Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” In Psalms 32:5, we hear the need for and importance of confession: “Then I declared my sin to you; my guilt I did not hide. I said, ‘I confess my transgression to the Lord,’ and you took away the guilt of my sin.”
