Bible Verses About The Law

There are many Bible Verses About The Law worth learning. Each time that the Bible speaks of the Law, it is referring to the detailed standards that God gave to Moses, beginning in Exodus 20 with the 10 Commandments. It is these standards that sum up to make God’s Law. This Law clearly explains God’s requirements for a holy people. It included three categories: Civil, Ceremonial, and Moral Laws. This Law was given by God in order to separate His people from all the evil nations around them and to clearly define sin unto their understanding (Ezra 10:11; Romans 5:13; 7:7). This very Law also pointed out to the fact that no human being could purify themselves enough to please God — that is, the Law revealed our need for a Savior.

It is rather unfortunate that by New Testament times, the religious leaders had hijacked the Law and added to it their own rules, traditions, and teachings (Mark 7:7-9). It is important to understand here that although the Law was good, it was weak in that it lacked the power to change a sinful heart (Romans 8:3). Behold, preserving the Law, as interpreted by the Pharisees, had actually become an oppressive and overwhelming burden (Luke 11:46). It was then that God gave His only Son, Jesus Christ to be offered as atonement for the sins of all those who believe in Him so that they may not die but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Today, anyone who Believes, Sincerely Repents, and obeys the Key Teachings of Jesus Christ is offered God’s special gift of Eternal Life.

Bible Verses About The Law

What the Scriptures say about the Law

We perceive in the Scriptures that Jesus Christ was born into a legalistic climate within which conflicts with the hypocritical arbiters of the Law were inevitable. However, Jesus Christ, the Lawgiver, said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17). Truth be told, the Law was not evil. It was purposefully given to serve as a mirror to reveal the conditions of a person’s heart (Romans 7:7).  John 1:17 says, “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” We can as well say without doubt that Jesus Christ represents the perfect balance between Grace and the Law (John 1:14).

Christ is the fulfillment of the Law of Moses and the teachings of the Prophets. Through Him, God’s saving grace has been poured out on all those who believe. Jesus Christ takes away the sins of all who come to Him and purifies them so that they can stand in the presence of God Almighty where they’ll benefit from everlasting life. Christ is the perfect mediator between man and God. His death on the Cross at Calvary was a sacrifice to reconcile man with God.

Facts about the Law

From the very beginning, God has always been full of grace (Psalm 116:5; Joel 2:13), and people have always been saved by faith in Him (Genesis 15:6). The truth is that the same God who gave the Law also gave Jesus (John 3:16). His grace was manifested through the Law by instituting the sacrificial system to cover sins. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was born of a virgin “under the law” (Galatians 4:4) and He became the Final Sacrifice to fulfill the Law and establish the New Covenant (Luke 22:20). Today, everyone who comes to God through Christ is declared righteous and worthy for the Heavenly Feast (Hebrews 9:15; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18).
