What Does The Bible Say About Dependence On God?

What Does The Bible Say About Dependence On God? As followers of Christ, we’ve all been called to depend or rely on God in everything. This is supported by the Best Bible Verses About Dependence On God. Fully depending on God is basic to the Christian life. We depend on God because He is willing and able to help us in every situation. In addition, we are limited beings but God is not. He is the source of our protection, wisdom, help, love, courage, faith, and light. Without Him, we can not go any further. Everything in Heaven and on Earth belong to God Almighty. Hence, we can say without doubt that we depend on God for everything since we have nothing of ours. In as much as we’ve been invited to depend on God, we’ve also been called to completely put our trust in Him for salvation through Christ.

God is the beginning and the end. He is the Almighty God before whom no human nor spirit can stand without fear. It was in His might and sovereignty that He created the Heavens and the Earth with the words of His mouth. In addition, He created all that they contain. We ourselves were created by God and we are His blogging. On our own, we can do nothing but in Him, we find the strength to do all things. In short, we depend on God for everything (Psalm 104:27) and in everything (Proverbs 3:5-6). We depend on God Almighty for wisdom (James 1:5) and salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). It was out of a deep understanding that the Psalmist taught the Lord’s reliability with the three fold description as we can read from Psalm 18:2 – “the LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer

What Does The Bible Say About Dependence On God?

Note that a call to fully depend on God is not a call to act foolishly. Remember that God has given us the ability to distinguish right and wrong before Him. He inspired the Holy Scriptures which were written down by His faithful servants to keep us knowledgeable about right and wrong. It is in this light that we are calling on you not to act foolishly in the name of depending on God. Remember that Jesus Christ did not need to jump off the pinnacle of the Temple to prove that he “depended” on God (Matthew 4:5-7). It is worth pointing out here that there is a difference between trusting God and putting God to the test. And as the scriptures say, no one should dare put the Lord God Almighty to the test.

It would sound foolish for a person driving to close his/her eyes and release the steering in the name of depending on God. God has given us the wits to steer a car and have it under control. However, even in doing this, we still depend on Him for a safe journey because only Him has the final say. While depending on God to completely heal you from all kinds of sicknesses and illnesses, you should not forget that He has provided us with doctors and medicines to assist us in such moments.

Practical ways to depend on God alone

1. Obeying the Bible – Deuteronomy 28:1-6

Deuteronomy 28:1-6 – “If you obey they Lord your God and faithfully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, He will make you greater that any other nation on Earth. Obey the Lord your God and all these blessings will be yours: The Lord will bless your towns and your fields. The Lord will bless you with many children, with abundant crops, and with many cattle and sheep. The Lord will bless your corn crops and the food you prepare from them, The Lord will bless everything that you do.” The Bible clearly teaches us what we can d to please God and acknowledge Him for who He is. By checking all our thoughts, actions, and words against the truth of the Word (Acts 17:11), we are put right with God through Christ. This locates us in God’s mercy and favor.

2. Prayer – Philippians 4:6

Philippians 4:6 – “Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking Him with a thankful heart.” Still on what the Bible says about dependence on God, it is important to note that prayer is one of the ways of acknowledging God’s power, provision, and promises. By praying at all times and praying without ceasing, we are showing our dependence on God.

3. Becoming a living sacrifice – Romans 12:1

Romans 12:1 – “So then, my brothers and sisters, because of God’s great mercy to us, I appeal to you: offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to His service and pleasing Him. This is the true worship that you should offer.” By becoming a living sacrifice, a person lives for God. It is then that such a person will stop relying on his/her personal strength as well as trusting in themselves while looking to God as the only source of Strength and Trust.

4. Refuse to worry – Matthew 6:31-32

Matthew 6:31-32 – “So do not start worrying: ‘Where will my food come from? or my drink? or my clothes?’ (These are the things the pagans are always concerned about.) Your Father in Heaven knows that you need all these things.” In simple words, we can say without doubt that God cares for all His children and is concerned about their well-being. That’s why you need not to entertain worry in your heart. Never forget that God is ready and more than ever willing to help you even in difficult moments. Your are more important in His eyes than the birds He feeds on daily basis and the flowers that He clothes with great beauty. That’s why you should not worry or doubt His ability to help.
