What Does The Bible Say About Transformation?

What Does The Bible Say About Transformation? There is much that the Bible says about transformation. One might ask, “what is transformation according to the Bible?” According to the Bible, transformation is a “change or renewal from a life that no longer conforms to the ways of the world to one that pleases God” (Romans 12:2). Here, we are talking about the inward spiritual transformation that is physically manifested thanks to a renewal of mind. Colossians 1:10 tells us that a transformed life in Christ is manifested through our “bearing fruit in every good work [and] growing in the knowledge of God.” We can as well say that transformation involves those who were once far from God being “drawn near” to Him through the Sacrificial Blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:13).

The way we reflect the likeness and glory of Jesus Christ is another manifestation of transformed lives (2 Corinthians 3:18). Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 8:9 saying, “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.” For us to be considered as God’s children, we must be led by the Spirit of God. It is through the Sovereign Power of God’s Spirit that Jesus Christ dwells within His followers. A transformed life mirrors the attitude of Apostle Paul who said, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

What Does The Bible Say About Transformation?

It is important for us to understand that the power of transformation comes only from one source. Pointing to this power, Apostle Paul said, “For the message of the cross [the gospel] is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). Likewise, Apostle Peter who was under the influence of the Holy Spirit in a speech about Jesus Christ said, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

What does the Scriptures say about Transformation?

We learned from the Scriptures that transformed lives begin with the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ. That is, it is the Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ that brings Eternal Life or Salvation. Let’s support this deep spiritual truth by reading from Romans 1:16-17 – “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’”

According to Ephesians 4:22-24, it is through the Good News of Jesus Christ that we learn to “to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Likewise, Romans 8:13-14 says, “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

What it takes to live a transformed life

Let’s get what it takes to live a transformed life by reading from 2 Peter 1:3-11 – “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness … for if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” To identify ourselves with Christ and give room for transformation, we must first Sincerely Repent and adopt an obedient mindset regarding the Commands of God Almighty. In addition, we should pray at all times requesting God’s guidance through the Holy Spirit in doing what pleases Him. Also, we should study God’s Word on a daily basis as it will equip us with what it takes to please God.
