There are many Bible Verses About Understanding worth knowing. The Bible clearly tells us that it is only a fool that takes no pleasure in understanding (Proverbs 18:2). Such a person is more concerned about expressing his/her opinion than having an understanding of the situation at hand. We dwell in an unpredictable world in which it is important for us to have an understanding of the basic happenings and situations around. And above all, we should seek to understand the things God has revealed to us about His Kingdom. Understanding is far worth more than what you think. Up to some extent, we can say that understanding is wealth. A wise man walks in the light of understanding. This understanding prevents him from making foolish decisions or walking the wrong path.

To support the fact that the wise dwell in a sea of understanding, let’s read from Proverbs 2:2-5 – “Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” Likewise, Proverbs 3:13-18 says, “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. ...” Whoever exhibits Self-Control or has a cool spirit is a man/woman of understanding (Proverbs 17:27).

What does the Scriptures say about Understanding God?

By seeking to understand God’s Word (Bible), we’ll end up understanding how the world functions and what it takes to exhibit wisdom even in the toughest situations knowing that God is in control. Note that we can only understand what God allows us to understand. It is impossible to understand God in all His fullness. The Scriptures clearly tell us that God is infinitely beyond our understanding (Job 36:26). By this, we do not mean in anyway to discourage your quest to know more about God. The Scripture says that anyone who searches the face of God will end up finding Him. There is much that God has revealed about Himself to humanity. It is such that one can pass an entire lifetime without completing.

God has made many of His traits known to humanity. Also, He has made many of His attributes understandable to the human mind through the help of the Holy Spirit. Through the Bible, God has revealed much about Himself to mankind. By regularly reading and studying the Bible, we learn to know who God is, how He reacts, and how He fathomed the things of His Kingdom to mankind.

  • God is Spirit (John 4:24).

  • He knows everything (Psalm 147:5).
  • God exists in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17).

  • God is incomparable  (2 Samuel 7:22).
  • He created the World (Genesis 1:1).

  • God is currently fulfilling His eternal plan for the World that He created (Ephesians 1:11).

  • God makes no mistakes; He is the Father who truly knows the best for His children  (Romans 11:33).
  • God knows no boundaries; He is without measure (Hebrews 13:8).
  • In His sovereign power and authority, He controls all things that happen (Isaiah 46:9-10).
  • There is absolutely no trace of sin or evil thought in God who is all-holy (Exodus 15:11).
