What Does the Bible Say About Positive Affirmations? An affirmation is an action or process of stating emphatically or publicly something. An affirmation reveals emotional support or encouragement for something. Affirmations in New Thought and New Age terminology refer primarily to the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment – fostering a belief that “a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything.” The issue with affirmations or making positive affirmations to achieve better or desirable results is the way the world regards it. While the world wants to trust in herself, the Christian’s trust should be in the Lord God and what He says. Christian affirmations and memorizing Scripture are important. Confession as an Affirmation of Faith

The word “confess” means to make a public avowal. Some people are likely to paint the word “confession” with negative meanings, as in confessing one’s sins or failures or admitting to a crime. Nevertheless, admitting one’s sins before God and requesting His mercy is part of a Christian’s spiritual journey as the Bible says all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23-24). There is another confession known as the confession of belief in which we hear phrases like “I believe in God, the Father Almighty,” and “Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.” Church services are generally a “confession” of our belief in God and His saving mercy through Jesus Christ. These two concepts of “confession” are found throughout the Bible.

In many ways, the Bible is an explicit story of how people confessed faith and how they confessed their failures to live up to that faith. The importance of confessing belief and sin are central tenets of the New Testament. Jesus Christ illustrated this idea of confession of sin and belief in most of his parables. Luke 9:26 says, “Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” In Psalms 32:5, we hear the need for and importance of confession: “Then I declared my sin to you; my guilt I did not hide. I said, ‘I confess my transgression to the Lord,’ and you took away the guilt of my sin.”

What Does the Bible Say About Affirmation by Jesus Christ

What Does the Bible Say About Affirmation by Jesus Christ? Being able to remind yourself of who you are in the eyes of God on hard days can make an awful day seem not so terrible.

What are positive affirmations? Positive affirmations are positive statements to change one’s thoughts from negative to positive in order to get through hard times. What are Christian affirmations? Christian affirmations are positive, encouraging statements based on Biblical truths. These Biblical affirmations remind us of who we are in the eyes of God and what He is saying about our situation. As such, we are putting our focus and trust in God and not in ourselves. Human nature is unreliable and as such our source of Encouragement, Strength, Hope, and Truth should be God. Note that Words Have Power and as such it’s important for us to confess our faith through affirmations.
Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Matthew 12:36 says, “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.”

What Does the Bible Say About Affirmation

What Does the Bible Say About Affirmation?

Examples of Christian Affirmations

  • God is the Creator of Heaven and Earth (Genesis 1:1).
  • I am made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-28).
  • Jesus Christ, the beloved Son of God is my Savior and Lord (John 3:16).
  • God is in Control and will not leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
  • Because we love God, all things work for our good (Romans 8:28).
  • I will not fear because God will strengthen and help me (Isaiah 41:10).
  • The Lord God Almighty knows His plans for me (Jeremiah 29:11).
    • I will not be anxious about anything but in everything present to the Lord God my request by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6-7).
    • I am loved by God (1 John 4:16).
    • I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).
  • I have been uniquely designed for a purpose (Ephesians 2:10).
  • The Lord God listens to me when I pray (1 Peter 3:12).
  • I am not afraid of bad news as my heart is firm, and trusting in the Lord (Psalm 112:7).

What Does the Bible Say About the Importance of Love

What Does the Bible Say About Love and Forgiveness? Forgiveness is an act of love. Ephesians 4:32 says, Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;” Likewise, 1 John 4:8 says, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” As a matter of fact, the Bible has a great deal to say about love. The Bible explicitly tells us that “Love is of God” and “God is Love” (1 John 4:7–8). In other words, love is a fundamental characteristic of who God is. Behold, everything that the Lord God does is impelled and influenced by His love. Note that the Bible makes use of several different words for “love” in Hebrew and Greek, interchanging them with respect to context. Some of these words mean “affectionate love”; others mean “friendship”; and still others “erotic, sexual love.”

Brethren, there is also a distinct word for the type of love that God displays. In the Greek Language, this word is agape, and it refers to a benevolent and charitable love that seeks the best for the loved one. We find many examples of love in the Bible such as the caring provision of Boaz for Ruth, the strong friendship of David and Jonathan, the poetic and passionate love of Solomon and the Shulamite, the enduring commitment of Hosea to Gomer, the fatherly love of Paul for Timothy, the affectionate love of John for the church, and, of course, the sacrificial, saving love of Jesus Christ for the elect.
Ephesians 1:4-5 says, “Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

What Does the Bible Say About Love and Forgiveness?

John 13:34-35 says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Agape, the benevolent, selfless love that the Lord God Almighty shows, is mentioned on several occasions in the New Testament. In 1 Corinthians 13, love’s characteristics are listed: love is patient and kind; love is not easily angered, doesn’t delight in evil, and doesn’t keep a record of wrongs; love is not proud nor self-seeking; love doesn’t envy, boast, or dishonor others, rather, love rejoices with the truth; love always protects, hopes, trusts, and perseveres; love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4–8). Notice that of the greatest of God’s gifts, faith, hope, and love, “the greatest . . . is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13).

The Bible tells us that God was motivated by love to save the world. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God’s love is best observed in the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf (1 John 4:9).
Amazingly, God’s love does not require us to be “worthy” to receive it; His love is truly benevolent and gracious: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). The Bible tells us that since true love is part of God’s nature, God is the source of love. In fact, He is the initiator of a loving relationship with us. And as such, any love we have for God is simply a response to His sacrificial love for us (1 John 4:10).

More Biblical Facts About Love

Brethren, our human understanding of love is unreliable as it is flawed, weak, and incomplete, but the more we look at Jesus, the better we understand true love. Scripture teaches that God’s love for us in Christ has resulted in our being brought into His family: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1). In the same way that the father in the parable showed love to his prodigal son (Luke 15:11–32), so our Heavenly Father receives us with joy when we come to Him in faith. Behold, He makes us “accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:6, NKJV).

The Bible teaches us that we are to love others the way that God loves us. We are to love the family of God (1 Peter 2:17). Likewise, we are to love our enemies. Loving our enemies has to do with actively seeking what is best for them (Matthew 5:44). Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). As we show benevolent, selfless love, we reflect God’s love to a lost and dying world. “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
The Bible says that our love for God is reflected by our obedience to Him: “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3; cf. John 14:15). Behold, we serve God out of love for Him. And God’s great love for us enables us to obey Him freely, without the fear of punishment or the burden of guilt.

Love Drives Out Fear

1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (this is again the word agape). Behold, the dismissal of the fear of condemnation is one of the main functions of God’s love. The person without Christ is under judgment and has plenty to fear, but once a person is in Christ, the fear of judgment is gone. John 3:18 says, “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

As Christians, part of understanding the love of God is knowing that God’s judgment fell on Jesus at the cross so we can be spared. John 3:17 says, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Jesus Christ is the Savior in whom anyone who believes is saved. We learn from the Scriptures that the only person who must fear judgment is the one who rejects Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that nothing can separate the believer from the love of God in Christ. Romans 8:38-39 says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God’s love for sinners is why Christ died on the Cross of Calvary. God’s love for those who trust in Christ is why He holds them in His hand and promises never to let them go (John 10:29).

What Does the Bible Say About the Importance of Love

What Does the Bible Say About the Importance of Love? Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;” Likewise, 1 John 4:8 says, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” As a matter of fact, the Bible has a great deal to say about love.

What Does the Bible Say About the Importance of Love?

Romans 9:1-33 – “I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. …

Acts 14:1 – “Now at Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed.”

Romans 2:1-4 – “Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

What Does the Bible Say About Withholding Affection

What Does the Bible Say About Withholding Affection? Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;” Likewise, 1 John 4:8 says, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” As a matter of fact, the Bible has a great deal to say about love.

What Does the Bible Say About Withholding Affection?

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

What Does the Bible Say About Love and Strength

What Does the Bible Say About Love and Strength? Psalm 73:26 says, “My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;” Likewise, 1 John 4:8 says, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” The Bible explicitly tells us that “Love is of God” and “God is Love” (1 John 4:7–8).

What Does the Bible Say About Love and Strength?

What Does the Bible Say About Believing in God

What Does the Bible Say About Believing in God? Belief in God is a fundamental aspect of faith for many individuals around the world. It goes beyond simply acknowledging the existence of a higher power; it encompasses trust, commitment, and a deep understanding of God’s nature. In this article, we will explore the multifaceted nature of belief in God and delve into the significance it holds in religious and spiritual contexts.

What the Bible Says About Believing in God

From a Biblical Perspective

The Essence of Belief

Belief in God is not limited to a mere intellectual acceptance of His existence. It encompasses a profound trust in Him and a willingness to commit one’s life to Him. While many people may acknowledge the existence of God, true belief goes beyond surface-level recognition. As James 2:19 states, even the demons believe in God’s existence, yet they do not trust or honor Him. Belief in God requires a genuine commitment that results in a transformative change of life.

The Foundation of Faith

Scripture highlights the importance of believing in the true God as the foundation of a relationship with Him. Hebrews 11:6 states, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Belief in God is essential for developing a deep and meaningful connection with Him. It is through faith that we open ourselves to experiencing His love, guidance, and blessings.

The Nature of God

To truly believe in God, we must have a clear understanding of His nature as revealed in Scripture. Many individuals have their own perceptions and interpretations of God, often constructing a god of their own making. However, authentic belief requires aligning our understanding of God with His true nature. The Bible describes God as the Triune God, perfect, omniscient, omnipotent, all-sufficient, immutable, true, faithful, gracious, loving, merciful, holy, and just. Belief in a god of our own design is futile; true belief necessitates embracing God as He has revealed Himself.

Trusting in Jesus

Central to belief in God is faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is not only the Son of God but also the exact representation of God’s nature (Hebrews 1:3). Believing in God involves placing our trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Through Jesus, God has shown Himself to us in a way we can comprehend and relate to. As Jesus Himself proclaimed, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Trusting in Jesus and accepting His redemptive work on the cross is the gateway to a vibrant and transformative relationship with God.

Belief and Action

Belief in God should not be a passive endeavor; it should lead to a life of commitment, service, and devotion. James 2:26 states, “Faith without works is dead.” True belief in God compels us to live out our faith through actions that align with His teachings. It is not enough to simply believe in God intellectually; our belief should manifest in tangible expressions of love, compassion, and righteousness towards others. Our faith should motivate us to make a positive difference in the world and reflect God’s character in all that we do.

The Attributes of God

Belief in God requires a deep understanding and appreciation of His attributes. Scripture reveals that God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6). His mercy extends to all of His creation, and His patience with us is boundless. God’s love is not contingent upon our actions but flows freely, and His faithfulness remains unwavering even when our faith falters. Belief in God necessitates embracing these attributes and recognizing His immeasurable worth and goodness.

The Unchanging Nature of God

One of the foundational aspects of belief in God is His unchanging nature. Unlike human beings who are subject to change and inconsistency, God remains steadfast and constant. He is the eternal “I Am” (Exodus 3:14), without beginning or end. God’s unchanging nature provides a source of stability and assurance for those who believe in Him. It assures us that His promises are reliable and His love for us endures eternally. In a world of uncertainty, belief in a God who is unchanging brings comfort and hope.

The Personal Journey of Belief

Belief in God is a deeply personal journey that goes beyond cultural or societal influences. It requires a genuine and heartfelt connection with the divine. While external expressions of faith may vary, the essence of belief remains the same—to know God intimately, to trust Him wholeheartedly, and to surrender our lives to His loving care. Let’s take note that Belief in God is not a one-time event but a lifelong process of growth, discovery, and transformation.

Belief and Salvation

Belief in God is intricately connected to salvation. It is through faith in Jesus Christ that we can experience the fullness of God’s grace and receive the gift of eternal life. Trusting in Jesus as our Savior and Lord is the key to reconciliation with God and the assurance of salvation. It is not enough to simply believe in the existence of God or in the divinity of Jesus; true belief encompasses a personal relationship with Him and a commitment to follow His teachings.

The Impact of Belief

Belief in God has a profound impact on our lives. It provides a solid foundation for our values, morals, and worldview. It gives us hope, purpose, and direction. Belief in God shapes our relationships, our choices, and our perspectives. It empowers us to face life’s challenges with courage and resilience, knowing that we are not alone. Belief in God brings meaning and significance to our existence, enabling us to live a life of love, service, and devotion.

In conclusion, belief in God is more than a mere intellectual acknowledgment of His existence. It requires trust, commitment, and a deep understanding of His nature. Belief in God is rooted in faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the source of salvation. It involves embracing His attributes, recognizing His unchanging nature, and living out our faith through actions of love and service. Belief in God is a personal and transformative journey that impacts every aspect of our lives. May we all seek to cultivate a genuine and unwavering belief in God, and may it guide us on the path of righteousness and eternal life.

What Does it Mean to Believe in God

What Does it Mean to Believe in God? Belief in God is a fundamental aspect of faith for many individuals around the world. It goes beyond simply acknowledging the existence of a higher power; it encompasses trust, commitment, and a deep understanding of God’s nature. In this article, we will explore the multifaceted nature of belief in God and delve into the significance it holds in religious and spiritual contexts.

What it Means to Believe in God
