Bible Verses About Heaven

Heaven is a real place which is well described in the Scriptures. The Best Bible Verses About Heaven will best clarify our doubts and reinforce our faith. Just in the New Testament, we can find the word “Heaven” appearing 276 times. This is to say that the Bible clearly gives us sufficient information about heaven. It is important to understand here that the Scripture refers to three heavens. 2 Corinthians 12:1-9 tells us how Apostle Paul was caught-up to the third heaven although he was prohibited from revealing what he experienced there. Truth be told, if a third heaven exist, there must be a first and second. The first heaven is frequently referred to in the Old Testament as the “sky” or the “firmament.” In simple terms, the first heaven is that which contains clouds and in which birds fly.

The second heaven is interstellar/outer space. The second heaven is the abode of the stars, meteorites, planets, and other celestial objects (Genesis 1:14-18). Lastly, the third heaven whose location is not revealed is actually the dwelling place of the Most High God. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, promised to prepare a place for Christians in heaven (John 14:2). God gave Him to the world so that anyone who hears His Message, Believes it, and Sincerely Repents may not die but have Eternal Life in heaven. We can as well read from Ephesians 4:8 that heaven is also the destination of Old Testament saints who died believing or trusting God’s promise of the Redeemer. Behold, whoever believes in Christ shall never perish but have eternal life in all its fullness (John 3:16).

Bible Verses About Heaven

What the Scriptures say about Heaven

Today, we are lucky to have the written revelation of Apostle John who was privileged to see and report on the heavenly city (Revelation 21:10-27). Behold, Apostle John witnessed that heaven (the new earth) possesses the splendid “Glory of God” (Revelation 21:11), the very presence of God Almighty, Father of Creation. Heaven has no night because the Lord God Almighty is the light, always shining thereby eliminating the need for the sun and the moon (Revelation 22:5). As Apostle John recounts, the city of heaven is filled with the brilliance of costly stones and crystal clear jasper. Heaven, the divine city, has twelve gates (Revelation 21:12) and twelve foundations (Revelation 21:14). Up to some extent, we can say that heaven is a restoration of the paradise of the Garden of Eden.

In heaven, the river of the water of life flows freely and the tree of life that was lost due to the fall of man in the Garden of Eden is available once again. This divine tree yields monthly fruits and leaves that heal the nations (Revelation 22:1-2). It is with these words that John described the realities of heaven. However, the reality of heaven is beyond the understanding of a finite man to understand and describe (1 Corinthians 2:9). In simple but knowledgeable words, we can say that heaven is a place of “no mores.” That is, there will be no more tears, no more pain, and no more sorrow (Revelation 21:4). In addition, there will be no more separation because death will be conquered forever (Revelation 20:6). In heaven we shall dwell with Jesus Christ, our savior, in the presence of God the Father Almighty.

5 Things that the Bible says about Heaven

1. Few will make it there

When asked where they are going after death, almost everyone on the street will say “heaven.” Behold, no one will say they think they are going to hell. Even those who dwell in sin out of Christ will still say that they think they are going to heaven after the die. The Bible, however, makes it clear that these people are confused and far from the truth. The Bible portrays them as those who look but cannot see, and those who hear but cannot understand. Jesus was very clear when He said, “Repent from your evil ways or await death as your reward” (Luke 13:5).

Scripture repeatedly says that the vast majority of people will not make it into heaven because they have not sincerely turned away from their sins, evil ways, and executed what God commanded. Only a few through Christ will be able to successfully pass through the narrow gate that leads to heaven (Matthew 7:13-14).

2. People will be full of joy and empathy

Behold, heaven is the place where everything is perfect. Although life on Earth can be wonderful at some points in time, anyone with eyes and ears can attest with us that this life is far from perfection. There are many things in this life on Earth that bring sorrow, grieve, sadness, and weeping. We find sick children asking their parents why they can’t go outside and why they feel hurt. People die on daily basis. Suffering and hardship dwells in our midst as we see people weeping and roaming around with tears in search of solutions for their problems. Truth be told, in heaven, there is none of these. That is, there is no more mourning, pain, and death in heaven.

In heaven, there is perfect contentment. Looking around in heaven gives you a reason to thank God without ceasing. The joy and happiness there is beyond human explanation. Luke 15 clearly reveals that people in heaven rejoice in happiness when they see a sinner who has sincerely repented and will be joining the saved in heaven.

3. We will be perfected by Christ

Heaven is a place of perfection. Everything in heaven revolves around perfection. The Bible tells us how our imperfections will be washed away by Christ Jesus. In short, we will be given new heavenly bodies in the likeness of Christ. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, said that those who believe in Him will be taken into heaven where they shall live like the angels of God. In addition, they shall be free from sin forever. Although this is almost incomprehensible to those on Earth, the Bible says that this is true. We will live in perfect bodies without the evil desires of the flesh hunting us.

4. It will be beautiful beyond imagining

Behold, the mortal mind cannot fully predict the glory of God Almighty. That’s why no human being can fully describe how heaven looks like. However, the Bible tells us that those who get there will walk on streets that are made with gold as they move to the mansions that Christ prepared for them. With some of these basic elements of supernatural beauty, we can only imagine at our own level how beautiful heaven is.

5. We will be with and see God

The spiritual truth here, is that, when we enter Heaven, we will be with God forever. The Book of Revelation makes these things clear. It describes our eternity in the presence of God Almighty, Father of Creation. In heaven, we shall never know darkness because God Himself is the light. His light shines so well that we shall not need the sun nor the moon. God Himself will be our Father and we will be His children. With joy, happiness, and love, we shall sing His praises and worship His Holy Name.
