There are many Bible Verses About Promises Of God worth knowing by all followers of Christ. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” The Scripture is clear on the fact that we perish because we lack knowledge about the things of God. A person can only claim what belongs to him/her if he/she knows of it with confidence. Likewise, we can only claim the promises of God for our lives when we confidently know of them. If you don’t know that something is yours, chances are high that you’ll never claim it even in the face of need. It is in this light that we hereby write to reveal the promises of God.
The Scriptures contain many promises that were made by God for His people. In each of these promises, God pledges that something will (or will not) be done, or given, or come to pass. Behold, these promises are not flippant, casual pledges such as we regularly make. All promises made by God are unequivocal, rock-solid commitments that never fail. They are of God Himself and can be trusted because God is all-holy, all-truthful, ever-faithful, and never failing. In fact, God is one with His word. And because God is ever-faithful, all the recipients of divine promises can fully rest-assured that what God has pledged will indeed be realized at the right time (Numbers 23:19).
Bible Verses About Promises Of God
What does the Scripture say about the Promises of God?
The Scriptures are filled with promises from our creator to provide, reassure, and deliver. As we already know, the Bible is the ultimate source for Truth about the things of God’s Kingdom. And we serve a God who is faithful to fulfill all His promises. It is with this in mind that we hereby write to present the following Bible verses on promises of God. As you read them, begin to claim them for your life and situation. With faith, claim your freedom from addictions, deliverance from evil and sin, hope for lost and hurting family and friends, financial provision, overcoming depression, healing, good health, recovering a marriage, being free from fear and anxiety, strength, and more blessings as promised by God.
Promises of God in the Old Testament
God Almighty promised to abundantly bless Abraham and, through his descendants, the whole world (Genesis 12:2–3). This promise that was made by God to Abraham is what theologians refer to as the Abrahamic Covenant. It was the special and greatest promise that pointed to the coming Messiah for whom Abraham looked (John 8:56). God promised the children of Israel to be their God and make them His people (Leviticus 26:12–13). The Old Testament portrays God fulfilling this promise on several occasions. God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, promised that if we search for Him, we will find Him (Deuteronomy 4:29). Deuteronomy 4:7 says, “Our God is near us whenever we pray to him.”
God Almighty, Father of Creation, promised to protect all His children (Psalm 121). The Scripture tells us how he was the vigilant watchman over the children of Israel. He also promised that His love will never fail (1 Chronicles 16:34). God is indeed faithful in every way and never fails His children. The children of Israel received a promise from God that their sin could be forgiven, their prosperity restored, and their nation healed (2 Chronicles 7:14). The Scripture tells us how repentance opened the road for blessing and fellowship. Under the terms of the Mosaic Covenant, God promised prosperity to Israel for obedience and destruction for disobedience (Deuteronomy 30:15–18). It is unfortunate that the children of Israel chose disobedience and their nation was destroyed by Assyria and Babylon. God promised blessing for all who will delight themselves in His word (Psalm 1:1–3). Faithfulness to God is rewarding.
Promises of God in the New Testament
In the New Testament, God promised salvation to all those who believe in His only Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16–17). Behold, there is just no greater gift than God’s special free Gift of Eternal Life. Anyone who Believes, Sincerely Repents, and obeys the Key Teachings of Jesus Christ is set apart to benefit from this free gift. God promised that all things will work for good for His children (Romans 8:28). It is the fulfillment of this promise on a daily basis that keeps us from being destroyed by the persecutions and challenges that we face everyday. Even in our trials, God promised comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3–4). God has a beautiful plan for each one of us and He is currently preparing better times for us. God promised to supply our needs (Matthew 6:33; Philippians 4:19). Not that we obtain everything that we want, but our needs will be met.
In Christ, God promised to offer New Life to His people. This salvation that we obtain through Christ is the beginning of a brand new existence. Our Heavenly Father promised every spiritual blessing in Christ for our good and His glory (Ephesians 1:3). Unlike in the Old Testament where the children of Israel had the promise of physical blessing, the church today has been promised spiritual blessings “in the heavenly realms.” Christ has prepared and reserved an inheritance for us (1 Peter 1:4). God promised to complete the work He started in us (Philippians 1:6). We serve a God who doe nothing in half measures. He started a work in us and will definitely take it to the end for our good and Hi glory. God promise peace when we pray (Philippians 4:6–7). The peace of God is our protection. It guards our hearts and minds in Christ.
Jesus’ promises in the Holy Gospels
Jesus Christ promised rest for His followers (Matthew 11:28–30). At Calvary, all burdens were lifted with Him on the Cross. Jesus promised abundant life to all those who follow Him in faithfulness (John 10:10). By following Jesus Christ, we obtain more spiritual fulfillment. With Christ, we leave all our burdens behind and dwell in His peace. You can as well read the Best Bible Verses About Following Jesus Christ to better understand this point. Jesus Christ promised eternal life to all those who follow Him faithfully (John 4:14).
John 10:28 says, “No one will snatch them out of my hand.” In this Scripture, Jesus is promising to hold us securely and fight for us. Jesus Christ promised His disciples power from on high (Acts 1:8). With this power, they “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6). Jesus promised that He will return to us and from thenceforth, all His faithful followers will dwell with Him forever (John 14:2–3). Behold, there are many more promises of God that could be listed. All these promises find their fulfillment in Christ as we can read from Hebrews 1:3 – “the radiance of God’s glory.” “No matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ”(2 Corinthians 1:20).
