Bible Verses About Accepting Reality

Discover Bible Verses About Accepting Reality. When faced with a difficult situation, some people are likely to say “I give up.” Others are likely to disagree saying something like “I can work out something with God” or “If I pray in faith, I’ll get what I want.” Behold, these are the two extremes that are more likely to surface in discussions about events outside our control. As Christians, what is expected from us in the face of events or happenings that are outside our control? Should we give up? Should we resign ourselves to whatever life hands us? Or should we name-it-and-claim-it to change our destinies? What do the Scriptures really say about accepting events or situations we did not choose? Just as it is with almost every philosophical or spiritual discussion, truth is found somewhere between two extremes.

Neither total resignation nor “name-and-claim-it” is taught in the “whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27). Although elements of each are present, neither tells the whole story. To find the truth or where the balance lays, we must begin with what we know for certain: God is good, He does all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28), He is sovereign over His creation (Daniel 5:21; Psalm 83:18). It is important to understand here that sovereignty means that the One who created everything in existence has the power, might, knowledge, wisdom, and authority to do whatever He wishes with it (Psalm 135:6; Daniel 4:35). In support, Psalm 115:3 says, “Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.

Bible Verses About Accepting Reality

Note that God’s sovereignty does not imply that He decrees pain, sin, or rebellion. God does not lie, yet He permits lying. He does not sin, yet He allows sin to exist on the earth (Genesis 6:5; Romans 6:16). It is because of the curse that sin brought on the world (Genesis 3:14–19) that evil, pain, suffering, and rebellion are part of the human experience. The Bible makes us to understand that God sovereignly allows Satan to continue his reign of terror until the day he will be cast into the lake of fire forever (2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10). It is without a doubt that Satan’s destructive work results in sufferings, heartaches, tragedies, poverty, pains, and a host of other evils that negatively impact our life experiences. When experiencing such calamities, we have choices in how we respond. And it is important that we respond appropriately.

In the Bible, we are told to bring our burdens to God “by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving” (Philippians 4:6). We are to “cast all our care upon Him because He cares for us” (1 Peter 5:7). Likewise, we are to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). In Luke 18:1–8, Jesus Christ makes use of an example of a widow petitioning a harsh judge so as to remind us to pray and not give up. He gave us another example when He Himself had to accept God’s answer. In the face of crucifixion, Jesus Christ pleaded with the Father to find another way to redeem mankind (Matthew 26:38–44). The Scriptures recount how on three occasions, Jesus cried out for deliverance from the looming torture. Amazingly, He did not stop there. He ended His prayer the way we must end ours: “Yet not my will but yours be done” (Luke 22:42).

What The Scriptures Say About Acceptance

As Christians, we need to understand that accepting God’s will is not passive resignation. Accepting His will is active; it is often the result of a process of contending with God, wrestling it out in prayer, repenting, fasting, and finally surrendering to His higher purposes for our existence. Let’s support our message by reading from Isaiah 46:9–11 – “I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ . . . What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.” Behold, acceptance recognizes that the Almighty God who spoke these words is still in control.

In many occasions, God waits for our prayers before He acts because He wants us to rely on Him, seek Him, and commune with Him so that He can show Himself strong on our behalf (check 2 Chronicles 16:9). In saving us, God brings glory to His name as we can read from Psalm 50:15 – “Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” Even when God’s deliverance does not look like what we think it should, acceptance rest in the sovereign goodness of God. Acceptance chooses to believe that “all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Job modeled godly acceptance of tragic circumstances when he said, “Shall we receive good from the Lord and not evil?” (Job 2:10). When troubled, we should pray and trust God.

Matthew 7:1-29 – “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. …

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Matthew 6:25-32 – “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. …

Discover Bible Verses About Accepting Situations.

Bible Verses About Accepting Situations

Matthew 6:25-32 – “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. …

Discover Bible Verses About Acceptance.

Bible Verses About Acceptance

Matthew 7:1-29 – “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. …

Bible Verses About Celebrating Accomplishments

Discover the Bible Verses About Celebrating Accomplishments. Can a Christian be proud of his/her accomplishments? Behold, it’s not necessarily wrong to take pride in our work as we thank God for the strength and guidance He gave us to accomplish it. It is important to understand that if we don’t, our work is likely to end up sloppy or incomplete. Remember how Apostle Paul urged his young companion Timothy to be “a worker who does not need to be ashamed” (2 Timothy 2:15). Nevertheless, the Bible warns us against a self-centered, egotistical pride that says, “have a look at me and see what I have accomplished!” But why is this wrong? The first and most important reason is that this type of pride cuts us off from God as we tend to take credit of our accomplishments.

The gifts and abilities that we have are from God who gave us the privilege and opportunity to use them. Therefore, when we take credit for what we have achieved, we remove God from the scene. Psalm 10:4 says, “In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.” We should not allow such to happen to us. Another reason why this type of pride is wrong is because it makes us think that we are better than other people, and this separates us from them and makes us insensitive to their needs. Also, we may take advantage of them and use them for our selfish benefit. Proverbs 21:4 says, “Haughty eyes and a proud heart … produce sin.” Thus, we should all turn to Jesus Christ with a humble heart and acknowledge that all we have is from God.

Bible Verses About Celebrating Accomplishments

What The Scriptures Say

The Bible says much about accomplishments and pride. However, there is a difference between the kind of pride that God hates (Proverbs 8:13) and the kind of pride we can feel about a job well done (Galatians 6:4) or the kind of pride that we express over the accomplishments of loved ones (2 Corinthians 7:4). The kind of pride that stems from self-righteousness or conceit is sin. This kind of pride is a hindrance to seeking God. According to Psalm 10:4, the proud are so consumed with themselves that their thoughts are far from God: “In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.” Christ teaches that this kind of haughty pride is the opposite of the Spirit of humility that God desires from us: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3).

Jesus Christ promises the Kingdom of God for those who are poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3). The “poor in spirit” are those who recognize their utter bankruptcy and their inability to come to God aside from His Divine Grace. The proud, on the other hand, are so blinded by their pride that they think that they have no need of God, or worse, that God should accept them the way they are because they deserve His acceptance. Proverbs 16:18-19 says, “pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.” It is worth remembering that Satan was cast out of Heaven because of pride (Isaiah 14:12-15). He had the selfish audacity of wanting to replace God. However, defiance against God leads to nothing but disaster (Isaiah 14:22).

The Bondage of Pride

Pride prevents one from acknowledging the power, strength, supremacy, ability, and sovereignty of God. Pride has kept many people in the bondage of sin. It has prevented them from accepting Jesus Christ as Savior. Sincerely admitting sin and acknowledging that in our own strength, we can do nothing to inherit eternal life is a constant stumbling block for prideful people. As Christians, we are not to boast about ourselves; if we must boast, we are to proclaim the glories of God Almighty, Father of Creation. Behold, what we say about ourselves is not that important but what God says about us is very important. In fact, our lives depend on what He says (2 Corinthians 10:18).

As a Christian, it is important to understand that pride is sinful because it is giving ourselves the credit for something that God has done. Pride is taking the glory that belongs to God Almighty alone and keeping it for ourselves. In other words, pride is self-worship. Behold, anything that we accomplish in the world would not have been possible if God didn’t strengthen and sustain us. In support of this, 1 Corinthians 4:7 says, “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” With this in mind, we are to give glory to God in everything that we do and in everything that we achieve. Instead of being proud of our achievements, we should rather thank God for them as we acknowledge His sovereignty over our lives and everything that we have.

Bible Verses About Accomplishments

Discover the Bible Verses About Accomplishments.

Bible Verses About Talkative Wife

Discover the Bible Verses About Talkative Wife. The Bible clearly warns us against talking too much or being overly talkative. In fact, the Bible tells us that a fool can be recognized by his many words (Ecclesiastes 5:3). Ecclesiastes 10:14 adds that a fool “multiplies words.” Christians should understand that the Bible discourages the use of an abundance of words where a few would suffice. Proverbs 17:28 says, “Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.” Behold, those who feel compelled to give utterance to every thought in their heads usually end up in trouble. Proverbs 10:8 openly describes the overly talkative person as a “prating fool” (NKJV), a “babbling fool” (ESV, NASB), or a “chattering fool” (ISV) who is on his way to ruin. Such a person is contrasted with one who is “wise of heart.

Talking too much leads to sin as we can read from Proverbs 10:19 that says, “When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.” Truthfully speaking, the wise person refuses to talk too much. Rather, he fears and honors the Lord God Almighty. He listens to the Lord and obeys His commands. He follows the example of Mary, “who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said” (Luke 10:39). It is important to understand that when our mouths are full of our own words, we have little time or interest in God’s words. Talking too much is a sign or a clear indication that we are listening too little. That is, we are more focused on passing a message than receiving one. As Christians, we should talk less and listen more.

Bible Verses About Talkative Wife

The Bible clearly makes us understand that restraining our lips is an indication of wisdom and humility. Talkative people often do not take the time between their many words to carefully and wisely choose what to say and what to hold back. Today’s modern culture offers numerous avenues through which we can express ourselves verbally. Cell phones, social media, blogs, and call-in radio all enable us to keep up a constant stream of chatter. But how much of our talking is really important or edifying? Ephesians 4:29 says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Saying what really needs to be said is important, but talking too much easily leads to saying what should not be said.

From the different quotations of Apostle Peter in the gospels, it seems that he was a talkative person by nature. In one instance at least, Peter’s verbosity was ill-advised. While on the mount of transfiguration, Peter says to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what to say . . .)” (Mark 9:5–6). Here, we notice that Peter “did not know what to say,” so, of course, he said something! This is exactly what talkative people do. It is amazing how God rapidly silenced Peter by redirecting his focus: “A cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: ‘This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!’” (Mark 9:7). Notice that Peter’s talking had to be replaced with listening.

What The Scriptures Say

We are made to understand by the Scriptures that just as the overly talkative person displays foolishness, the one who holds his tongue demonstrates knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 17:27 says, “He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.” We can’t gain knowledge if we are constantly talking, but understanding comes from listening and using our words sparingly. James 1:19 says, “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak . . .

Helpful Prayer To Stop Talking Too Much

As Christians, it is important for us to understand that talking too much is detrimental to our witness in the world, as Apostle James reminds us, “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless” (James 1:26). Apostle James later says that controlling the tongue is one of the hardest things to do, humanly speaking (James 3:2). In fact, “no human being can tame the tongue” (James 3:7). Amazingly, we have the Holy Spirit to help us with the task, and here is a Helpful Prayer To Stop Talking Too Much: “Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips” (Psalm 141:3).

It is without a doubt that one of the most difficult aspects of following God is when we see something bad happen to people that we love. Behold, when suffering or tragedy strikes close to home and people whom we know love God and follow His ways die in a sudden, unexpected or tragic way – it can prompt us to question where God was and why He did not intervene. According to Deuteronomy 31:6, God never leaves us or forsakes us. Likewise, Psalms 46:1 makes us to understand that God is our refuge and strength, and a help in time of trouble. In addition, Psalm 23 tells us that God is our shepherd: guiding us, providing for us, and protecting us from evil. With this in mind, it’s challenging to understand why some Christians die in accidents.

What should we understand? What should we take as conclusion? On one hand is the absolute truth of God’s divine protection and provision, and on the other hand is the fact that our Christian brothers and sisters sometimes die in sudden, unexpected, and tragic ways. Truthfully speaking, life as a Christian isn’t easy. In the Scripture, Christians are not promised a life free of pain, suffering, and tragedy on Earth. As a matter of fact, Scripture states the exact opposite. Many people have struggled to explain this very concept for millennia. Throughout Job’s story, there was a misunderstanding that is expressed by Job’s friends that somehow Job deserved what was happening to him as a result of his sins – basic cause and effect. The Biblical book of Job discuses this very concept back and forth between Job, his friends, and God.

What The Scriptures Say

The Bible says much about unpleasant situations in the lives of Christians. However, do unpleasant situations like accidents come due to a person’s sins? Buddhists have taught the concept of Karma for several thousand years – that a person’s actions have long-range consequences. Good deeds lead to good karma, bad deeds lead to bad karma. In simple terms, this is seen as a cosmic bank account that credits and debits your future with each action and consequence however unrelated it might be, is a result of the balance of your account. Amazingly, Jesus Christ ran into this line of thought during His earthly ministry when two tragic situations occurred in Judea. In the first situation, a number of brethren from Galilee were killed and their blood was mingled with the sacrifices by Pontus Pilate.

In the second situation, a group of people were killed when the Tower of Siloam collapsed. Throughout Luke 13:1-5, Jesus Christ’s point to those gathered was that these people were no worse sinners than anyone else and this wasn’t punishment for a life of sin. Christ illustrated to those gathered that this fate – death – would come to all men and that they must redeem the time and repent. These sudden, unexpected, and tragic deaths were not a result of these people’s sins. Instead, Jesus Christ makes us to understand that death comes to us all, and that we must lead a Kingdom-focused life while we are here.

Things we can learn from the Temptations of Jesus Christ

When the Devil tempted Jesus Christ in Mark 4, he clearly quoted a passage from the book of Psalms, where we hear the Psalmist praising God for His protection: “No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Psalms 91:10-12). In Matthew 4, Satan twists this passage to tempt Jesus Christ to through Himself from the parapet of the Temple – to somehow prove God’s protection. Jesus Christ’s simple response to Satan was to quote Deuteronomy 6:16 and a paraphrase of Psalms 95:9You shall not tempt the Lord your God.”

Jesus Christ’s response to Satan was telling. Does the Lord God Almighty protect His people? Yes He does. However, when we do something unwise – like throw ourselves from a tall building in order to test God’s protection, there are no guarantees. Likewise, we can’t smoke for 50 years and question why God didn’t protect us from lung cancer. If someone gets into a car without a seatbelt and gets into a horrible accident, and we question why God didn’t protect them, the honest answer is that there are consequences to our choices and we ultimately reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). Behold, this is a Biblical principle.

Can God protect His People?

The Lord God Almighty is able to protect His people. However, He does not always do so. This is definitely tough to swallow sometimes as a believer in God. Why didn’t God protect this person or that person in this circumstance? Why didn’t God send His angel to bump their car back on the road? Such are the questions we are likely to ask when untimely or tragic death takes any of our loved ones. We are likely to say it’s unfair because they had faith in God and served Him as a Christian. Romans 9:10-18 makes us to understand that God does as He desires and His ways are not our ways. We don’t always understand why God does as He does – why some live and others do not.

Apostle Paul tells us that God will do what He wills, and it really isn’t our place to question why (Romans 9). God will have mercy on whom He chooses to have mercy on, compassion on whom He chooses to have compassion on. This is hard to accept but we must accept. Life as a Christian isn’t easy. The Scripture does not promise us a life free of pain, suffering, and tragedy. Apostle Peter tells us not to find it strange when we fall into fiery trials (1 Peter 4:12-17). In fact, we should expect it because Satan is the god of this age (1 Corinthians 4:4). He has been given control over the earth for a time. And as such, the pain, suffering, and tragedy that we see in the world around us today is a direct result of his influence.

Our stand as Christians

It is important to understand that the people of God are not immune from the suffering, tragedy, and tears brought by Satan. However, they’ve been given authority in Christ to come out victorious. The Scripture says that we should call unto God in the times of trouble and He will rescue us. Thus, we should put our trust in Him despite the persecutions or trials or temptations or tribulations that we are facing. The Bible says that God does all things for the good of those who love Him. Trust in Him and you will live to testify His goodness.

Despite the challenges that you are facing in the Christian race, have in mind that there will be a time in the future when Satan will be put away for eternity. Jesus Christ will return, and the Kingdom of God will be established. There will be no more suffering, no more tears, no more pains, no more sickness, no more hunger, and no more death (Revelation 21). We can rest assured that this time will come because God’s promises never fail  (Hebrews 6:17-20). It will be a great time of joy as we will meet our loved ones who departed in Christ.

Prayer points against Accidents

John 10:10 tells us that the enemy doesn’t come unless to steal, kill, and destroy. Destruction in all its forms is one of the numerous plans of Satan for our lives. It is for this reason that we must stand strong in the faith as we hold to the strength, power, and authority of Jesus Christ to overcome every obstacle put on our way by Satan. We are to put on the whole armor of God and fight the good fight of fight (Ephesians 6). On several occasions David escaped death in the hands of King Saul because the protection of God was upon his life. With this in mind, let’s pray and ask for God’s protection upon our lives. Let’s ask God to have mercy on us and protect us and our loved ones from accidents.

Prayer: Lord God Almighty, locate me and my loved ones in your mercy and favor. Your word says, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil because you are with me, your rod and staff comforts me. Lord, in all my activities, I pray that no harm shall come before me. The Scripture promises that you will go before me and level up exalted places. I pray that every accident before me or any of my loved ones is destroyed in the name of Jesus Christ. Cover me and my loved ones with the blood of Jesus Christ as you keep us safe from all Satanic attacks. I make this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Father, thank you for hearing and answering me.

Discover the Bible Verses About Accidents. Why Do Christians Die In Accidents?

Bible Verses About Accidents

Too Much Talk Leads To Sin Meaning

Too Much Talk Leads To Sin Meaning.

Too Much Talk Leads To Sin Meaning
