Bible Verses About Loving Others

Bible Verses About Loving Others

Jesus Christ laid emphasis on Bible Verses About Loving Others which are worth knowing by all his followers. Christians have a command from Jesus Christ which is to love others. It is without doubt that loving others can be extremely hard. It is easier for us to love people that we find “lovable”. The challenges of loving steps in when we are dealing with those who are hard to love. It is worth noting here that the command from Jesus Christ holds irrespective of whether the people are lovable or not. As Christians or followers of Christ, we’ve been called to not just love those who are easy to love, but all people. Among those that Jesus Christ has commanded us to love are the easy to love, the hard to love, and the almost impossible to love. By loving others, we reflect Christ’s ownership over us (John 13:35).

John 13:34-35 – “And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.” We love because Jesus Christ had first loved us in fullness. It was out of love that he willingly gave-up his life on the cross at Calvary so that we can have everlasting life through him. God did not withhold back his only son but sent him to be sacrificed as the divine lamb that takes away the sins of the word. This is a proof that God loved us even when we were still sinners out of Christ. It is in the same light that God is commanding us to love others so as to reflect his nature.

Bible Verses About Loving Others

What you should know

Before presenting the best Bible verses about loving others, there are a few things worth pouring light on. God is the father of love. Anyone who does not love does not know God. An objective look from the beginning of time till date will reveal that God’s actions were based on love. Before asking us to love, he first loved. By loving, we are reflecting his light from within us to the world. Remember the story in Matthew 22:34-40 which is dealing with the greatest commandment. It so happened that the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees and came in their numbers to trap him. On arrival, one of them, a teacher of the law, fired a strategic question to Jesus. “Teacher” he asked, “Which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

In response to his question, Jesus Christ answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Jesus pointed that this is the greatest and most important. He went forth to giving the second most important commandment which is just like it: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” It is without doubt that the whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets are all based on these two commandments. Having said this, it is clear that there is room for discussing the Bible verses about loving others in the modern Church. Anything done out of love is one done ought of God’s sight. Love is what justifies our actions through Christ in the presence of God. Without love, we cannot please God. By loving others, we are honoring his holy name and loving nature.
