Discover what Speaking Things Into Existence is all about. Behold, speaking things into existence is solely within God’s power and exclusively His right. The Bible makes us understand that in creating the World, God simply spoke things into existence. That is, God simply spoke, and light appeared (Genesis 1:3); the sky was formed (verses 7–8); dry land emerged (verse 9); vegetation sprang up (verse 11); the sun, moon, and shining stars appeared (verses 14–15); fish and birds came into existence (verses 20–21); animal life was as well called into existence (verse 24). Amazingly, God’s act of creation clearly reveals His unique and mighty power in a way that can never be duplicated. In simple words, God is the only one who can speak things into existence. Speaking things into existence is not something that we, human beings, have the power to do.
Speaking things into existence is solely within the power and might of the Almighty God. When the Lord God Almighty brought the plagues upon Egypt, the pagan magicians were able to mimic the results of the first two miracles. But when Moses following the instructions of the Lord God Almighty turned the dust of the ground into gnats, the magi of Egypt were stumped. That is, they could not animate inanimate things: “This is the finger of God,” they told Pharaoh (Exodus 8:19). Today, there are people who believe that it is possible for mankind to speak things into existence. Most of them base their claims on a misinterpretation of certain Scripture passages. However, we are likely to make such mistakes when we only look at one verse of one short section of Scripture, without considering that passage in its proper context.
Speaking Things Into Existence
Among the Biblical verses that people often cite when trying to prove that man can speak things into existence is Mark 11:24, “I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Interestingly, these words of Jesus Christ do not in any way communicate the idea of creation – bringing something into existence that did not previously exist. It is important to note that in the previous verse (Mark 11:23), Jesus gives the example of moving a mountain, but He does not mention the idea of speaking a new mountain into existence. In addition, Mark 11:24 must be taken in context with the rest of Scripture. We are told in 1 John 5:14 that, “If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” As Christians, we are called to submit to God’s will in our prayers.
When we pray according to God’s will through Christ our Lord and Savior, our prayers are heard. And the Lord God Almighty who hears our prayers is willing and ready to answer us. Jeremiah 29:12 says, “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.” Likewise, Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Submission to God’s will in prayer yields positive results. However, we are never given the power to speak things into existence. Elsewhere, Jesus Christ taught, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). It is by seeking God’s will, aligning our desires and thoughts with His desires and thoughts that we show true faith.
What The Scriptures Say
The Scriptures call on us to seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33). Seeking first the kingdom of God has to do with going after His will, aligning our thoughts and desires with His thoughts and desires. This leads us to ask for the things that God wants, not the things that we want. At this point, our desires become His desires, and our prayers become requests to fulfill His desires rather than our own. It is important to understand that the purpose of prayer is not to speak things into existence but to conform our will to God’s as we can read from Luke 22:42 – “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
Another Biblical verse often used as a proof text that we can speak things into existence is Romans 4:17 that talks of “the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” Some people stick to the phrase “calls into being things that were not” and try using it as Biblical evidence that we can do the same. This is a misinterpretation because Apostle Paul is clearly talking about God, not man, calling things into existence. Speaking things into existence is God’s specialty and not ours. Likewise, the Scripture points to mankind’s inability to speak things into existence. Lamentations 3:37 asks the rhetorical question, “Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?” The answer, of course, is “no one.” Behold, we do not have the power to speak things into existence through the sheer force of our word.

And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. In this piece of writing, we’ll be answering the following questions: What Is An Apostle? Are There Apostles Today? What Makes Someone An Apostle? What Is An Apostle Today?Qualifications Of An Apostle?Duties Of An Apostle? How To Pronounce Apostle, What It Means To Be An Apostle, Disciple Vs Apostle, What Is A True Apostle? What Is An Apostle In The Bible? What Is The Difference Between A Disciple And An Apostle? An Apostle, in its most literal sense, is an emissary, from the Greek word ἀπόστολος (apóstolos), literally “one who is sent off”, from the verb ἀποστέλλειν (apostéllein), “to send off”. The chief purpose of such sending off is usually to convey a particular message, and therefore “messenger” is a common alternative translation. Other common alternative translations include “envoy” and “ambassador.”
This term is derived from the Greek of the New Testament and was used for Jesus’s original twelve Apostles as well as a wider group of early Christian figures, including Paul, Barnabas, and Junia.
It usually refers to early associates of the founder of a religion, who played an important role in spreading his/her teachings. The word apostle has two meanings, the broader meaning of a messenger, and the narrow meaning of an early Christian Apostle directly linked to Jesus Christ. Today, the adjective apostolic (/ˌæpəˈstɒlɪk/) is strongly claimed as a continuing characteristic by many prominent Christian churches thereby leading to a wider modern application.
We can find the word in the “Apostolic See”, the official name for the Roman Catholic Papacy. Also, we can find the name in the doctrine of the Apostolic succession which is held by many branches of Christianity. It can as well be found in the Four Marks of the Church (“One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic”) found in the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed.
What Is An Apostle?
Apostle Definition
The Christian Faith teaches that apostles were those entrusted by Jesus Christ with the task to assist in organizing the Church and spreading the message of His Key Teachings to the world. It comes from the Greek word apostello , meaning a messenger or one sent on a mission. Although not frequently used in today’s common language excerpt when pointing to Christian Principles, the word was regularly used in ancient times to describe someone who has been commissioned by another person to represent him.
In the New Testament, there are two primary usages of the word apostle. The first which is of greater value is in specifically referring to the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. The second meaning is in generically referring to other individuals who are sent out to be messengers/ambassadors of Jesus Christ.
The Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ held a unique position. In portraying the New Jerusalem, Revelation 21:14 states, “The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” It was these twelve apostles who were the first messengers of the Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ after His Death and Resurrection. According to Ephesians 2:20, these twelve apostles were the foundation of the church with Jesus Christ Himself being the Cornerstone. This specific type of Apostle is not present in today’s church because they had a unique task which was to lay the foundation of the Church. It is obvious that two thousand years later, we are not still working on the foundation. The qualifications of this type of apostle were:
To have been a witness of the resurrected Christ (1 Corinthians 9:1)
To have been clearly chosen by the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:15)
Accompanied by signs and wonders (Acts 2:43; 2 Corinthians 12:12).
What Is An Apostle In The Bible?
This piece of writing won’t be complete without an answer to the question, what is an apostle in the Bible? It is important to note that beyond the unique twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, there were also apostles in a generic sense. In Acts 13:2 and 14:4, Barnabas is referred to as an “apostle”. Also, Andronicus and Junias are possibly identified as apostles in Romans 16:7. In addition, the same word translated “apostle” is used in 2 Corinthians 8:23 to refer to Titus and also used in Philippians 2:25 to refer to Epaphroditus. Hence, we can say without a doubt that there is room for the term apostle being used to refer to someone besides the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. Anyone who was “sent” could be called an apostle.
The main question now is to know the role of an apostle outside that of the twelve apostles. Although it is not entirely clear, we’ll do our best to pour more light on the subject matter. Knowing the definition or meaning of an Apostle, we can easily link it to its closest term, missionary. In simple terms, a missionary is a follower of Jesus Christ who has been sent out with the specific mission of proclaiming the Gospel. He/she is an ambassador of Christ to everyone who has not heard of the Good News of Eternal Life. Today, many people think that it is wise not to use the term apostle to refer to any position in the church so as to avoid confusion. However, the vast majority of the occurrences of apostles in the New Testament refer to the twelve apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Are There Apostles Today?
In a broad sense, all followers of Jesus Christ are called to be apostles. That is, they have been sent out to take the Good News to those who have not yet heard of it. In following Christ, we are to be His ambassadors (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20). We are all to be “ones who are sent out” (Acts 1:8). We have all been called to be preachers of the Good News (Romans 10:15). However, it becomes a dangerous ground when a person starts equating himself in terms of spiritual authority with the twelve apostles that were chosen and taught by Jesus Christ himself. Such reflections are more likely to lead to apostasy and false doctrines. Remember that as Christians, we have only one leader and teacher, Jesus Christ. In everything, let the Holy Spirit and the Bible be our guide for Truth.
What Is The Difference Between A Disciple And An Apostle? (Disciple Vs Apostle)
It won’t make sense for us to end this piece of writing without answering the question, what is the difference between a disciple and an apostle? There is much to know about disciple vs apostle. Although the terms are often used interchangeably, there is a significant difference between an apostle and a disciple. In simple terms, we can say that a disciple is a devoted student and follower of a teacher. The Greek word for disciple is mathētḗs which means a pupil or learner. It literally means a student. A disciple is an apprentice whose main goal is to learn as much as possible from his/her teacher. In reality, Jesus Christ had many disciples who were not part of the twelve whom he chose to become apostles.
Luke 10:1 says, “The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit.”
So, what is the difference between the disciples and those who became apostles? The difference lays on the fact that they were chosen from the other disciples and sent out on a mission. Although we are all called to spread the Good News about God’s Kingdom, not everyone is given the gift of Apostleship by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 clearly lists the gifts of the Holy Spirit, starting with that of Apostleship. Everyone who receives a spiritual gift is a disciple of Jesus Christ because he/she is filled with the Holy Spirit as a result of sincerely repenting and welcoming Jesus Christ in his/her life. However, it is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 12:30 that not everyone will receive the same spiritual gifts. Thus, not every disciple ends up becoming an apostle.
The Original 12 Apostles
Jesus Christ had many disciples who were devoted to studying under Him. However, only 12 were chosen from the beginning to later go out and spread the Good News about God’s Kingdom to humanity thereby laying the foundation of the Christian church. Those whom Jesus Christ chose as apostles were later given the gifts of apostleship by the Holy Spirit when Christ ascended. We perceive that even those whom we consider as the original twelve apostles seemed to gain favor and confidence in their roles as apostles after the Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came live in them. These are the twelve whom Jesus Christ called Apostles:
Simon (whom he named Peter)
James
John
Andrew
Philip
Bartholomew
Matthew
Thomas
James
Thaddaeus
Simon
Judas Iscariot (who was later replace by Matthias)
What Is An Apostle Today?
Do Apostles still exist? Are men still called by God to be Apostles? These are some of the questions that many people will like to have answers to. The truth is that God still calls people, equip them, and send them out on the mission of growing the church of Christ. Remember that “Apostle” is clearly listed as the first in a series of gifts that believers in a community that is after God’s heart can receive from the Holy Spirit. As it was the case in the days of Jesus Christ, not everyone will receive the gift. However, as God continues to grow His Church, there will always be the need for spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit.
Qualifications Of An Apostle (Duties Of An Apostle)
There is much to say about the qualifications to be an apostle. Can anyone be an apostle? Biblically, it seems that it is not ours to decide. What then are the requirements to be an apostle? How can one become an apostle? Without thoroughly thinking it through, many ministers of the Gospel have often assumed that certain things make someone an apostle. Most of the time, these things are what apostles do; but not exclusively. Or still, apostles may have them, but not exclusively. Some of these things are as follows:
Having an international ministry.
Signs and Wonders.
Being Charismatic.
Being Recognized by People as an Apostle.
Planting Churches or having extensive missionary works.
And in some cases, people assume that you must have seen Jesus Christ physically to be an Apostle.
Note that all of the above-assumed qualifications are not exclusive apostles. We can support this point with the fact that many have performed great signs and wonders, had international ministries, planted churches, been called apostles, been called charismatic, and have seen the Lord, but not been an apostle. That is why we can say that none of these things are really qualifications but maybe things that apostles carryout, but without proving the calling. Is there a Biblical list of qualifications for apostles? Although the Bible provides a list of qualifications for elders (Titus 1:5-9, or 1 Tim 3:1-7) and deacons (1 Timothy 3:8), there is not in one place a single list of qualifications for Apostles.
Three Basic Qualifications Of And Apostle
Elders were appointed by apostles. Deacons were also appointed by leadership. That is why Apostle Paul wrote specifying qualifications for these church positions. Apostles however are called by Christ, appointed by Christ, and anointed for their mission by Christ. Hence, they must declare themselves to be an apostle. It is only after this step that they are tested to actually see if they really are an apostle. Their devotion and love for Christ and believers as well as their godly character and lifestyle will testify that their call is true. Jesus Christ said, “You will know them by their fruit.”
Mark 3:14-15 it says, “He appointed twelve – designating them apostles – that they might be with him, that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.” This Biblical passage gives us three qualifications of an apostle. Firstly, they must be people who are closed to Christ. Secondly, they must be completely obedient and willing to be “sent ones”. Thirdly, they will have the authority to do Christ’s work.
Other Qualifications
Grace on their lives. (2 Corinthians 1:12)
Submission to Christ – not a law unto themselves. (Philippians 2:5-8)
Holiness. (2 Corinthians 1:12)
Willingness to suffer for Christ. (Colossians 1:24-29)
Sincerity. (2 Corinthians 1:12)

You can speak life or death to your dreams and visions. You must not!

Anytime you attach yourself to God you are connected to light, health, purity in Christ, peace and all the spiritual benefits of heaven.
Beloved, riches in Christ means standing where Christ is; taking sides with Him who is able to abundantly more than you expect.
You must be a testifier rather than a complainer. God assures you that blessings will chase after you when go in and out obediently. You will be overtaken by blessings.
We have nothing to offer the heathen but a religion, and true Christianity is not a religion. Religion is only a form, a ceremonial observance, but Christianity is a life itself. Christianity is the core, heart and nature of Jesus Christ being manifested in man.
The living God stands behind the living Word. That should sound logical to your ears.
We must look to God as the source of our needs. Whenever we take our eyes off God and His will for our life, we immediately begin to attempt to do things our own way.
Prayer must be your way of life, then success will-overtake you.
God’s plan is for you to be saved, happy, blessed, successful and prosperous!
We are saved? From what to what? Death to life! Sin to righteousness! Darkness to light! Poverty to prosperity! Fear to faith! Failure to success! And more and more!
Success is a road you must travel because God wishes it so (3 John 2). Be encouraged to renew your mind and thinking according to the Master’s promises. Look up and reach out for excellence.
Life is for the living in the presence of God.
A believer who will not till the soil and plant the field may seem spiritual and may pray for miraculous harvest, but he or she will end up in poverty.
What are some of the mischievous lies the devil puts across to confuse people about prosperity and success? First, he suggests that material poverty fosters spiritual humility. Don’t allow such a thought to reign in your heart; it is sickening and defiling.
Don’t forget, it is not only the rich who are in danger of being infected by pride.
If God places so much value upon you, surely he wants you to benefit from the abundance of His creation.
A believer who is undisciplined and slothful in business principles will not prosper.
God never intended that anyone should go through life imprisoned by their own superstitions. He opens the door of success to every believer who will dare to step out and go after the good life. No one in God’s family was ever destined to exist in sickness, fear, ignorance, poverty, loneliness or mediocrity.
Once you have set your eyes on God’s lifestyle, you will no longer cower and retreat when the going gets rough. You will transform each problem into an opportunity for growth.
If your hopes are dashed by opposition you will not cringe in fear of judgment. Instead you will pick up the pieces, learn by your mistakes, profit by learning your enemy’s strategy and set even higher targets the next time around.
Success is coming your way in Christ, who became poor that you might be rich. Until we have a dream, we can never know what it is to have a dream come live.
God entrusts every generation with seeds to plant, soil to cultivate, oceans to sail, mountains to scale, deserts to conquer, rivers to harness, minerals to mine and forests to utilise. He also gives each of us a brain and a spirit with which to receive His creative ideas. With Him at work in us we can be, have and do, anything He puts into our spirit and mind.
Your choice is very important. You cannot afford to fail. To fail, you must quit first; to quit you must decide not to continue. But the will of God is that you prosper and be in good health(3 John 1:2).
Our God reigns: He brings you from discouragement to new courage, from fainting to strength. Be strong.
We are given power to do something about something that is not moving the way we want it to be.
Faith does not make things easy, it makes them possible.
Character isn’t built during victory celebrations. Character is built in the trenches when you are strategizing and working your dream.
People, we get it all wrong. We think that if God wants it to happen in our lives, that He will just magically do it.
It doesn’t work like that. He plans great things for us, but requires our faith and strategic action to activate His purpose and promises.
When you meet an obstacle along the way (and you will) it doesn’t mean that you should give up or that it wasn’t part of His plan in the first place. Activate your faith to overcome the obstacles you face. Use your faith as a booster to push you past the difficulty.
In fact… the process / journey that we pass through is also very much a part of His plan. There are lessons we are to learn on the road to every victory.
Faith is not a superstition or an intention; it is an action.

I am part of God’s plan. I am vital to His dream. I am an instrument in His kingdom. I am a member of His family. I am the proof of God’s love. I am evidence of His life. I am the temple of His spirit. I am the expression of God’s faith.
God made me. God believe me. God loves me. God paid for me. God never gives up on me. God gave His Son for me. God redeemed me. God values me.

Archbishop Benson Idahosa was one of the Christian fathers in Africa. He brought a lot of Christ-like inspiration during his days and greatly influenced the way men and women perceived Christianity. Behold, Archbishop Benson Idahosa was a man of great faith. In fact, he had a robust faith. He believed God for Who He Said He Was. He took God for His Word, acted on it and God revealed Himself to him through miracles, visions, signs, and wonders. In his book entitled ‘Faith For All Nations‘ he says, “Everybody faces a storm in life, but all through this book I’m going to teach you timeless truths and principles about how you can overcome ‘the storms of life’. Your storms must not overcome you, you must overcome them.”
When you don’t know what to do in the storm or the hour of distress – God knows what to do.
Storms of life are real, not imaginary stories from children’s fairy tales.
Millions of people never graduate from the school of self-pity and never learn anything beyond asking WHY, year after year. This is the devil’s trump card. Leave the WHYS behind you. Go on!
Let one thing control your mind if you are a child of God – Jesus knows something about the situation you are going through that you don’t know.
We all know that there is no such thing as a “storm-free” life. Therefore, agreeing that there is not a storm-free life on Earth, then the only visible alternative open to you under the circumstances is to learn how to take control of the storm.
Religious faith is not transmitted genetically.
Instead of seeing the storms through your financial upsets, marital problems, business upheavals, depression, and living vulnerably to every physical plague that ravages human beings, discover that God has become your companion for victory through life’s adversities.
Jesus Christ will unfailingly tell you when He meets a person in crisis, problem, or storm of life. He says, “Be of good cheer!”
Discouragement will come in the storms of life. Don’t let it possess you. Worse still, a countenance will ruin the beauty of God’s glory in you.
Fear of the known will destroy you. Fear will cause you to take rush decisions contrary to the Word of God.
A whole lot of the crises and storms of life Christians or people of the world run into are self-inflicted.
You will discover that if you obey God, neither the press nor anything else is big enough to destroy you.
But the secret of faith is continually saying what God said.
Faith is progressive. It does not pretend that obstacles don’t exist. Faith sees the obstacles or crisis and supersedes it.
It is true that you will never live without some kind of fear. The danger is to allow it to becloud your faith, rule your heart, or affect God’s voice in the vision you have received.
The power of God transcends political and geographical barriers.
Unbelief by simple definition is believing anything no matter what we think to the contrary.
Your storms must not overcome you, you must overcome them.
The keys to success and prosperity are grace, faith and hardwork.
No man ever wins when he is afraid to fight.
Christians can face heavy trails of the enemy. We can be knocked down but we can never be knocked out.
3. What did God tell Moses to do? To speak to the rock. And what was going to happen? Water was going to come out. In fact until Moses carried out the instruction and spoke, nothing would have happened. But there are many rocks in your life which need only your speaking to them to release their stored contents. Why has the water not come out? Because you are looking at the rock as a stone, but God is seeing it as a reservoir.
2. If you have a vision and you do not act on it, it will die. A vision not actioned is auctioned!

The mark of a born-again Christian is his soldier status. All God’s children are warriors. God’s servants are all fighters.
It is without a doubt that during the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, he raised many dead people. The Bible tells us that He went about doing good. Throughout his earthly ministry, he healed all who came to him with sicknesses of all kinds.
The Bible tells us that he gave sight to the blind, strengthened the legs of the lame to walk, opened the ears of the deaf to hear, commanded the dumb to speak, and liberated all those who were under the captivity of Satan.
Remember what Jesus Christ said in John 14 verse 12 ” Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
In this verse, Jesus Christ is telling us that anyone who believes in Him will be able to do the things that He deed and even do greater things.
Hence, we can say that it is all about faith in God for the Bible says that all things are possible for God to do. Likewise, the Bible says that all things are possible for he that believes. It is important to note that the impossible exists only in the human realm and not in that of God. Apart from Jesus Christ, a good number of prophets in the Bible also raised many dead people.
Below are cases in the Bible that the dead were brought back to life:
1. Elijah raised the son of the Zarephath widow from the dead (1 Kings 17 Verses 17 to 22).
2. Elisha raised the son of the Shunammite woman from the dead (2 Kings 4 Verses 32 to 35).
3. A man was raised from the dead when his body touched Elisha’s bones (2 Kings 13 Verse 20, and 21)
4. Many saints rose from the dead at the resurrection of Jesus (Matthew 27 Verse 50 to 53).
5. Jesus rose from the dead (Matthew 28 Verse 5 to 8; Mark 16 Verse 6; Luke 24 Verse 5, and 6).
6. Jesus raised the son of the widow of Nain from the dead (Luke 7 Verses 11 to 15).
7. Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus from the dead (Luke 8 Verse 41, 42, 49 to 55).
8. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11 Verse 1-44). 9. Peter raised Dorcas from the dead (Acts 9 Verse 36-41).
10. Eutychus was raised from the dead by Paul (Acts 20 Verse 9, 10).
Behold, Jesus Christ raised the dead, His immediate Apostles deed the same just as He had said in John 14 Verse 12. Jesus said anyone who believes in Him will do what he deed and even do greater things because he was going to the Father Almighty. His immediate Apostles believed and it worked for them. What of us today? Are we not also believers who share the same faith with the Apostles of Old. Of course, we are because Jesus Christ does not change. Hebrews 13 Verse 8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. It is in this light that Archbishop Benson Idahosa stepped out in faith to raise a dead and it worked. Glory be to God.
Let’s hear him from his own words: “As a young Christian, I once heard my pastor say during a morning service that Christians could raise the dead in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believed it with all my heart. And flying around on my bicycle in those days, I went through the city of Benin in search of a dead person to raise to life. After about five hours of hard searching I found a compound where a little girl had died a few hours before. The corpse had been cleaned and prepared for burial. I walked boldly up to the father of the dead child. “The God whom I serve can bring your baby back to life,” I told him. “Will you permit me to pray for the child and bring her back to life?” The man was startled, but he agreed. With great enthusiasm, I walked into the room and up to the bed. The child was cold and dead. With strong faith in the Lord, I called on the Lord to restore the child back to life. I turned to the corpse and called it by name, “Arise in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Oh Glory to God! The corpse sneezed, heavily, alas. The child had come back to life!”
The name Archbishop Benson Andrew Idahosa is one that can’t be forgotten in a generation that desires to worship a living God. Yes, I mean a living God. Although gone, his message about the living God is still laying hands on many and taking the faith of many to maturity. In fact, his messages are clothing young men and women with the power to uproot the evil in this generation. He was the kind of preacher that we find 1 in the midst of every 1,000.
With mere words backed by the One Who Sent him, he was able to call down physical and spiritual fire from heaven, instantly call blindness, paralysis, or death on anyone standing on the way of the Holy Gospel or one preventing the Truth from being known (Here, one can only remember how Prophet Elijah called down fire on a whole army sent to stop the work of God in his days).
In the days of Archbishop Benson Idahosa, raising the dead, healing all kinds of sicknesses, opening the eyes of the blind, restoring the speech of the dumb, opening the ears of the deaf, and opening the eyes of the blind were indeed the children’s bread. Father, we miss your days. Just as Elijah left something behind, do not accept to dwell peacefully where you are without pleading with God to continue what you started in our generation. We do not want the Power and Authority that accompanied you and Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola to leave us. The world can only praise God and marvel at the things that He did through you:
A man who called down rain and it rained.
A man who commanded the rain to stop and it did.
A man who commanded the dead to rise and they did
A man who drove away hundreds of witches and wizards in Benin and thousands in Nigeria as a whole.
A man whose presence demons, wizards, witches, and familiar spirits could not withstand.
A man who communicated with the invisible and visible.
A man who called the invisible into existence and it came.
A man whose words were a mixture of fire and power (1 Corinthians 4:20)
A man who shook the heavenly places as he went around doing the things everyone had concluded impossible.
A man who fought not for a title but was crowned the Father Of Faith In Africa.
A man that this generation and that to come will remember and give thanks to God for sending him.
A spiritual father and guide to thousands if not millions.
A man whose anointing is too heavy for a mere human to carry.
Filled with the Epikaizo Anointing and clothed with the power of the Allos Parakletos, Benson Idahosa went about doing good.
A man whose anointing, grace, power, and authority in Christ is still roaming the Earth looking for young men and women who are willing to follow Jesus Christ and run the Christian race in dimensions no one has ever heard of nor experienced.
A man who saw the defeat of Satan before being taken away from the Earth.

What Does The Bible Say About Pastors Committing Adultery? Cheating by a spouse is referred to as adultery. But what does the Bible actually say about cheating or adultery? This is the question we’ll be answering throughout this piece of write-up. The word adultery is etymologically related to the word adulterate, which means “to render something poorer in quality by adding another substance.” Hence, we can say without doubt that adultery is the adulteration of marriage by the addition of a third person. In simple terms we can as well say that adultery is the voluntary sexual activity between a married person and someone other than his/her spouse. The Bible clearly begins its teachings on marriage with the pattern of Adam and Eve: one man and one woman, husband and wife, both united by God Almighty (Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:7–9).
Adultery is strictly forbidden by the seventh commandment which reads, “You shall not commit adultery” (Exodus 20:14). Since this prohibition was simply stated without any explanation, we can conclude that the meaning of adultery was well understood in the time that Moses gave the Law. It is important to understand here that Scripture is consistent in the prohibition against adultery. Despite the clarity of the original pattern of marriage and the strict prohibition against adultery, sinful humanity has managed to develop ways aimed at blurring the lines of morality. Here, we can say that polygamy is one of the ways through which the prohibition against adultery has been to some extent circumvented. Although polygamy is not technically considered as adultery, it does adulterate God’s original plan for marriage. Although God allowed polygamy in the Old Testament, He did not endorse it.
What Does The Bible Say About Pastors Committing Adultery?
Marriage is a sacred covenant between a couple. Just as previously mentioned, adultery was allowed in the Old Testament by God but He did not endorse it. Polygamy was not considered as adultery because, although a third party (or perhaps fourth, fifth, sixth, etc) was added into the marriage, the additional woman or women were included legally. Note that a polygamist who indulged in sexual activities with anyone other than his legal wives was committing adultery. And since polygamy is generally illegal in most modern countries today, no third person can be legally added to a marriage. Another way that the prohibition against adultery has been circumvented is through Divorce and Remarriage. Any married man or woman having an affair is committing adultery. It is rather unfortunate that if he/she divorces his/her spouse and marries the other, he/she still maintains his/her “legal” footing.
However, Jesus Christ puts both of these “strategies” to rest as we can read from Luke 16:18 – “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery.” Likewise Mark 10:11–12 says, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.” According to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, divorce does not circumvent the prohibition against adultery. If upon seeing another woman, a married man desires her sexually, divorces his wife, and marries her, he is still committing adultery. The marriage bond is one that is expected to last for a lifetime. This is to say that divorce does not release one from the responsibility of remaining faithful to the original spouse. (Relatedly, the Bible allows divorce in some cases, and, when divorce is allowed, remarriage is also allowed without being considered adulterous.)
What The Scriptures Say About Pastors Committing Adultery?
In the Scriptures, Jesus Christ carried the prohibition against adultery even further than the Mosaic Law: “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:27–28). Therefore, even if a man does his best to “legally” avoid adultery by requesting for a divorce, he is already guilty because of the lust in his heart that drove him into taking such measures. Likewise, if a man “legally” brings another woman into the marriage, rendering it a polygamous marriage, he is still guilty of adultery because of the lust in his heart that motivated him to go for another wife.
Still in the light of the words spoken by Christ, if a man or woman indulges into lustful thoughts (pornography is especially problematic), then he/she is guilty of adultery even-though there was no extramarital physical contact that took place. This clear explanation by Jesus Christ avoids all of the worries about “how far is too far” with someone other than a spouse. Also, it avoids the need to define what “sex” really is. Lust, not sex, is the threshold of adultery.
Facts on what the Scriptures say about Pastors Committing Adultery?
Proverbs 6 gives us some stern warnings about committing adultery, giving “correction and instruction . . . keeping you from your neighbor’s wife” (verses 23–24). Solomon says, “Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes. . . . Another man’s wife preys on your very life. Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished” (verses 25–29).
According to the Scriptures, adultery is deadly serious and does brings consequences. “A man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself” (Proverbs 6:32; cf. 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Hebrews 13:4). Living in adultery is giving evidence that you do not truly know Christ. However, adultery is not unforgivable, either. Every sin that a Christian commits can be forgiven through repentance. And any sin committed by an unbeliever can be forgiven in Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:9–11 says, “Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers . . . will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God”
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the Biblical definition of Adultery? What does adultery mean?
Old Testament Definition
Adultery was defined and understood in the Old Testament as sexual relations between a married (or betrothed) woman and a man other than her husband. Thus, it was considered a sin against her husband.
New Testament Definition
In the New Testament, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior did extend the definition of adultery to include a married man and a woman other than his wife (Mark 10:11-12, Luke 16:18). It is in this way that other New Testament teachings perceive it (1 Corinthians 6:15-16, 1 Corinthians 7:2 ). Hence, we can conclusively define adultery as the sin of a married man having sexual relations with anyone other than his wife or a married woman having sexual relations with anyone other than her husband.
2. If a spouse is unable to have sex, is it okay to have sex with someone else? Are there exceptions?
A good number of people wonder whether there are exceptions in cases that the spouse cannot or will not have sex, or if the couple is separated, or better still, for other reasons. However, the Bible does not give any exception for a spouse to have sex with anyone apart from his/her partner.
3. What Did Jesus say about adultery?
Jesus Christ says in Matthew 5:27-28 – “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.“
In the same light, Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 7:2-5 – “But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband. The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife. Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”
The truth is that “office romance” as well as other extramarital affairs usually cause tremendous emotional pain to the spouse whether sexual intercourse is involved or not. In addition to this, it is without doubt that sexual attraction clouds judgement and often leads to actual sexual relations, even when that was not the original intent.
4. What does the Bible say about adultery?
Adultery is one of the most frowned against sins in the Bible. In fact, it is one of the most frequent and highly condemned sin in the Bible. Adultery is mentioned 52 times in the Bible, including in the 10 Commandments, all 4 Gospels and other Biblical books. The only sins mentioned more often than this are the sins of idolatry, murder, and self-righteousness. Exodus 20:14 says, “You shall not commit adultery.“ Matthew 15:19–20 says, “For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile.” Luke 18:18-20 says, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments, ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and mother.’“
Hebrews 13:4 says, “Let marriage be held in honor by all, and let the marriage bed be kept undefiled; for God will judge fornicators and adulterers.”
5. What does the Bible teach about divorcing a spouse for adultery?
The Bible mentions adultery as ground for divorce (Matthew 5:31-32, 19:9) but does not require it. In most cases, both the husband and wife can be reconciled and the marriage saved even after adultery.
6. Is it a sin to continue living with a spouse that has committed adultery?
Note that it is not a sin to continue living and having sex with a spouse that committed adultery. (However, the risk of sexually transmitted diseases should be considered and precautions taken). This should not be an issue if both partners have been reconciled to each other and forgiveness has taken place.
7. Will God forgive me for committing adultery?
As it is with other sins, God will forgive the sin of adultery if a person sincerely repents and also forgives other people. 1 Corinthians 6:9–11 makes us to understand that in the Corinthian church there were former adulterers, but they had been washed clean from their sin, sanctified, and justified through Christ.
8. What are the lasting damages of adultery?
Although God will forgive adultery, the damages it causes often cannot be undone. Truth be told, it is extremely hurtful to the spouse. In most cases, it leads to divorce thereby living the separated partners with lots of bitterness in their hearts. Children from divorced families are prone to anxiety, low school performance, drug addiction, and delinquent behavior. Such issues are likely to extend till their adulthood. That’s why spouses should always do their best to save their homes from crumbling.
9. What should be the response of a Christian whose spouse has had an affair?
It is without doubt that infidelity creates a very difficult and painful situation, one that brings to the scene all emotions, and, for the Christian, can stretch faith to almost a breaking point. When faced with such, the best thing to do is to “turn all your worries over to Him. He cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7). As Christians, we should always turn to the Lord God Almighty any time that we are hurt in order to seek for wisdom, direction, comfort, joy, peace, and a forgiving heart. Behold, God is able and willing to help us even in the deepest of trials. Keep in mind that adultery is always wrong. In support of this, Hebrews 13:4 says, “God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” Here, the injured spouse should rest in the truth that God is the avenger.
Also, the wronged individual does not need to fret over getting even. God will do even a better job of avenging us. Each time that we are betrayed, we need to commit the pains to the One who knows every detail and will deal with it properly. In the face of betrayal or unfaithfulness, we need to pray as we seek God for wisdom, for healing, and guidance. As you pray for yourself, also pray for the offender, and also pray for anyone else involved in the act. Humbly pray for God in His goodness, wisdom, and love to guide your thoughts, words, actions, and decisions. Be honest with your feelings. It is normal to feel hurt. Let the expression of your pains to the Lord be the first step towards healing (see Psalm 77:1–2). Choose forgiveness and not repaying evil for evil (1 Peter 3:9).
10. How should a Christian spouse handle an adulterous affair that has resulted in a child birth?
Marriage is a special covenant that brings a couple together both physically and spiritually. Infidelity in marriage or adultery causes a devastating blow that tears through the oneness of marriage. Infidelity is an act that often results in irreparable damages in marriage. Such is especially true if a child is conceived through adultery. However, a parent’s responsibility for his child is not determined by the circumstance of the child’s conception and birth. The act of bringing a child into the world through adultery is definitely disastrous to both parties, but it is important to remember that the child is innocent and deserves to have two parents in his/her life. Note that even a child conceived through adultery also has the right to be loved, protected, catered for, and provided for.
The Scriptures clearly tell us that children are a blessing from God (Psalm 127:3). A child should not be seen as a curse or a reminder of the sin, or as in anyway less worthy. Ideally, the wife whose husband has fathered a child with someone else would be able to embrace the child as a stepson or stepdaughter, even if the child in question is not residing in their home. The wife should not stand in the way of her husband forming a relationship with his child, even though this might bring pains. As a wife, you should understand that your husband has financial, spiritual, and emotional obligations towards the child in question (Ephesians 6:4). Likewise, a husband whose wife bears a child with someone else should strive to see himself as a stepfather – or even as an adoptive father.
11. What is the Biblical punishment for adultery?
Before answering this question, it is important to clarify the difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Under the Old Covenant Law, given to ancient Israel under theocracy, the punishment of adultery was death (Leviticus 20:10). But in the New Testament, Jesus Christ brought a new law into effect. However, the eternal punishment of sin is still death (Romans 6:23), but adultery no longer carries the death penalty civilly. Modern Christians or followers of Jesus Christ are not commanded to harm those who sin. The Old Testament list a good number of behaviors that were punishable by death, including adultery. In support of this, Leviticus 20:10 reads, “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.” The punishment was same for both parties that were found guilty.
Today, the Bible does not command any such punishment for adultery. However, the act of adultery carries its own punishment. Sexual sin is an offense carried out on one’s own body (1 Corinthians 6:18). Proverbs warns against the consequences of adultery: loss of honor and strength (Proverbs 5:9–11), a ruined reputation (Proverbs 5:14), bondage and death (Proverbs 5:22–23), self-destruction (Proverbs 6:32), and the vengeance of a jealous husband (Proverbs 6:34). “Can a man scoop fire into his lap / without his clothes being burned? / Can a man walk on hot coals / without his feet being scorched? / So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; / no one who touches her will go unpunished” (Proverbs 6:27–29). It has even greater spiritual consequences. However, it is not without forgiveness as demonstrated by Jesus Christ to the woman who was brought to Him for having committed adultery (John 8:10–11).
12. What is spiritual adultery?
Spiritual adultery is unfaithfulness to God. Spiritual adultery is analogous to the unfaithfulness of one’s spouse: “‘But like a woman faithless to her lover, even so have you been faithless to me, O house of Israel,’ says the LORD” (Jeremiah 3:20; see also Isaiah 1:21; 57:8; Ezekiel 16:30). The Bible clearly tells us that those who choose to be friends with the world are an “adulterous people” having “enmity against God” (James 4:4–5). Here, the word “world” represents the system of evil that is under the control of Satan and his agents (John 12:31; Ephesians 2:2; 1 John 5:19). The world system was designed with a deceitful scheme aimed at luring us away from the things of God’s Kingdom. Spiritual adultery has to do with forsaking God’s love and embracing the world’s values and desires (Romans 8:7–8; 2 Timothy 4:10; 1 John 2:15–17).
13. What of pastors committing adultery?
It is without doubt that pastors have been called not just to preach by word but by action. However, being humans, some end up finding themselves in the sin of adultery. Although sinful, such happens when the flesh takes control. As teachers of God’s word, we should pray at all times and keep watch not to fall into such. However, as a pastor, if you find yourself in the sin of adultery, confess and turn away from the act as you seek God’s mercy and favor through Christ. And as Christians, it is our duty to pray that God empower our spiritual leaders and keep them from such sins.
The Bible says that we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Hence, instead of dwelling on or focusing on condemning our brothers and sisters who have fallen, we should rather pray and encourage them to stand firm in the ways of God. A married man, before being a pastor, is called by Christ to be a good husband to his wife. And one of the main ways of being a good husband is by being faithful to your wife. The Bible says that a man who is unable to maintain his own house won’t be able to maintain God’s. That’s why you must first put order in your own house before seeking to put order in God’s house (Church).

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. …“

The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. …“

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.“

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
