Money in the Bible is a reality which must be carefully analyzed in the light of God’s righteousness. The entire Bible is full of God’s wisdom and advice on human matters. And the money topic is not without God’s opinion or advice. If you have been wondering what the Bible says about money, you are at the right place. Money is not different from the harvest made from your land through hard work. That’s why you can convert your harvest into money as well as convert your money into household foodstuffs, shelter, and services. Even Jesus Christ needed money during his days on Earth for many purposes like paying the Temple tax (Matthew 17:24-27). We are even told by the scriptures that Judas Iscariot was the one carrying the money bag which financially supported Jesus’s ministry (John 12:6).

Money in the Bible: A Deeper Look

But what do we mean by speaking against the fact that Christians are taking the money topic as a taboo? Are we speaking against 1 Timothy 6:10 which says “For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows.” We are definitely not speaking a single word against this Holy Scripture which was written by Apostle Paul to Timothy. Note that we are simply pouring more light on the subject matter. For this very scripture in itself does not speak against money but against does who are so desperate to have it that they wander far away from God. The scripture is simply against does who partake in evil activities to obtain money.

We regularly hear of people breaking God’s law by stealing money, killing for money, accepting the devil for money and rejecting Christ for money and all the facilities that come with it. On the other hand, I’ve never come across a scripture which is against honestly earned money in God’s light. For it is God’s will that men and women labor to meetup with their daily needs. The problem steps in when you value money more than your faith. Money is a reward for hard work or labor. And onto my knowledge, God promised to make the land fertile and rewarding for his children. Thus, if you love God with all your heart and obey the key teachings of Jesus Christ, prosperity and divine success will follow you.

God’s promise to make those who obey his laws prosperous

Let’s confirm this by reading from Deuteronomy 30:9 – “The Lord will make you prosperous in all that you do, you will have many children and a lot of livestock, and and your fields will produce abundant crops. He will be as glad to make you prosperous as he made your ancestors prosperous.” In other words, prosperity is children’s bread in the kingdom of God. Honor God and he will fill your store rooms with more than they can contain. Put God first in your life and you will live to testify his goodness.

Malachi 3:10 says ” Bring the full amount of your tithes to the Temple, so that there will be plenty of food there. Put me to the test and you will see that I will open the windows of Heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things.” Thus, as you are concerned about the things of God, He will be concerned about your well being and pleasure. As you seek first His kingdom, all the other things will follow in abundance (Matthew 6:33). The land which God will bless and make prosperous could also be your business or other life activities.

Whatever the case, you must note that the way Christians handle money or financial aspects is different from the way the world does. The world believes in money but Christians believe in God. While the world believes that money is all, Christians believe that God is all. The world believes in nonexistence without money but Christians believe in nonexistence without God. Thus, Christians perceive money as a secondary need and not a primary need as the world does. This is what money in the Bible is all about.

What is money?

In simple terms, money is a medium of exchange which is generally accepted in the society for payment of Goods and Services. While may see money as a necessity for life, it can turn into a source of trouble to one’s mind. It is without doubt that money is a problem to those who overvalue it whether they have too little or too much. However, those who find their primary satisfaction in God’s love and faithfulness will hardly led their minds troubled by money. Let’s further expand our topic on money in the Bible given that the Bible is an authoritative guide in living a life that pleases God.

Working for provision is part of God’s perfect plan for mankind

We cannot talk of money in the Bible without narrowing our path to creation when God fashioned the Earth and all that is in it. Upon creating Adam and Eve, God gave them a mission or task which was to take care of the Garden of Eden and all that lived withing it. That’s they were to rule over the fish in the sea, birds in the sky, livestock, wild animals, and all living creatures on land. However, things went bad when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. They were sent out of the Garden which had all life facilities. Their disobedience brought sin and a resulting death into the World. As a result of their disobedience, they were under God’s punishment. God cursed the ground which man was to work hard before producing what was necessary to make a living.

From the beginning, we see that mankind had work to do. You might say that there was no money in the Garden or Eden. But remember that there was work to do and it is this work to do that we perceive today as a job. As long as Adam took care of the Garden and all that was in it, God provided his needs. Even when he was out of the garden, he had to work the ground in order to meetup with his needs. Today, you are either working the ground to make a living as God planned or you are executing a job which will yield money for you to purchase food produced from the ground. In either way, mankind is fulfilling God’s will of working to make a living. We couldn’t afford to omit this from our writing on Money in the Bible.

Money is a precious gift from God

Skeptical people are already up with their stones to throw at us because we said money is a precious gift from God. Start by asking yourself why this saying and by the end of they day, you’ll be OK with us. But what do we really mean by this saying? We say that money is a precious gift from God because it is both a reward for the work he commanded us to do and a means of sustaining the valuable life which he breathe into our bodies during creation. Money is the reward that a person earns from working. It is what you use to purchase your needs. With money. you are able to sustain your life and those for whom you are responsible.

Biblical wealth is perceived as the result of hard work, honesty, and wisdom. That’s why it is written in the proverbs that lazy hands yield poverty while diligent hands yield prosperity. It is also written that dishonest wealth dwindles away. Note that dishonest wealth has led to the downfall of many great men and women. That’s why playing around with such is not different from entering the Lions presence. You’ll likely get devoured for dinner. However, wealth which comes as a result of hard work, honesty, and wisdom is what brings glory to God. With such wealth, God will certainly bless you the more for he who has shall receive more while he who doesn’t will be taken even the small that he/she believes in.

Do not embrace poverty in the name of the Gospel

Brethren, do not lazily embrace poverty in the name of the gospel for it is not written anywhere in the scriptures that pleasing God is being poor. If you are poor, hold yourself responsible for being lazy and do not dare attribute it to the scriptures. For the scriptures are clear on the fact that God will bless the efforts of his children so that they would not lack bread. Step out with a hardworking spirit and God will bless your efforts to be successful. Folding your arms to sit back is simply being lazy and has nothing to do with obeying God. For God’s will is that man should work the ground and eat what it produces. While on Earth, our savior Jesus Christ worked as a carpenter till the age of 30 when he took up his Father’s work. All his Apostles were skillful and hardworking men.

Money in the Bible requires hard work, honesty, wisdom, and the fear of God. The Bible in itself is not against money. A look at most Biblical figures who pleased God will testify on our behalf. Some of the godly individuals in the Bible who were rich and extremely wealthy are Abraham, Solomon, Job, Joseph, and Arimathea. In God’s covenant with the children of Israel on Mt Sinai, He promised them wealth if they will keep all his commandments. This reveals God’s nature of providing for his children. God loves those who honor and keep his commands. He calls them his children. And just as a Father, he makes sure that he blesses their efforts to yield their needs. Although you can be poor yet be a child of God, if you work hard, God will bless your efforts and make you prosperous.

Lots of temptations come with money

While money itself is not bad, the temptations surrounding it can turn to be deadly. Money in the Bible clearly points out the possibilities of deadly temptations which can lead your soul to the fire of hell. You can as well read what Jesus Christ taught about hell. Coming back on the temptations surrounding money, we say that they are real. That’s why Apostle Paul wrote saying that the love of money is the root of all evils. And this is absolutely true because out of the desire to get money, many people are so desperate that they abandon their faith. Some are so desperate that they go up to the extent of sacrifices human lives. Others do not hesitate to steal it while some people simply get it through dishonest ways. All these ways are evil and God hates them.

Do not be misled by the security which money promises to give you because it cannot protect you from God’s Holy Judgement of fire. Money promises lasting happiness but the more you gather, the more your worries and anxieties. Always remember that money can “disappear” overnight and leave you stranded. That’s why you should rather fight for everlasting riches in heaven by honoring God on Earth. Remember to love God with all your heart and also love your neighbor as you love yourself. Do for others what you will love to have them do for you. When God blesses you with money, be a father to the fatherless, a mother to the motherless. Become a benefactor to those in need. Share with others the things which God has blessed you with and your riches will be stored up in heaven.

Did you know that God wants you to prosper? Indeed, prosperity is bread for God’s children. If we humans are working hard to have our children prosperous in all they do, what more of our heavenly Father? Let’s open our Bibles to Jeremiah 29:11. In this verse, the Lord God of heaven and Earth says “I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for”. This verse clearly eliminates all doubts in our hearts on whether God wants us to prosper. It clearly answers the question “Does God wants me to prosper?”. We hear God himself saying that He knows the plans He has for everyone. And that these plans our those aimed at bringing us success and prosperity in that we do.

Did you know that spiritual things bring into existence material things? Unlike many people who try to completely separate these two things, we’ll say spiritual things greatly influence material things. We all know that God who is a Spirit being brought into existence the material world and all that we can find in it. In other words, we’ll say that a spiritual God created all matter. Thus, as Children of God, we are destined to be prosperous. The truth is that God loves us. We can’t measure His love for mankind. If He did not even keep back His only Son Jesus Christ but sent him to manifest in the physical through suffering to make away with our sins, what more of little things like success and prosperity. He will definitely give them to us in abundance.

God wants you to prosper in every good thing

Who is destined for prosperity?

We won’t be speaking God’s mind if we unfold prosperity without telling you those who are destined by God to prosper. Anyone who wishes to prosper can do so. Wishing or desiring to be prosperous is not enough, there is something you must do. Let’s get to know it by opening our standard for life to Isaiah 1:19 “If you only obey me, you will eat the good things that the land produces“. Obedience is the key to Biblical prosperity. You cannot expect to be financially blessed by God without obedience. In as much as God loves us, He also wants us to demonstrate an unquestionable love towards him. This love is manifested by our desires and ability to stay tuned to his laws. God’s laws and teachings open doors for us to make it in life.

Obeying God’s law also has to do with remembering Genesis 3:23. In that verse, God commands man to cultivate the soil in order to make a living. In other words, we’ll say that God upon sending the man out of the Garden requested him to eat out of his efforts. This leads us to say that God loves hard work. Although he sent us out of the garden, he has not abandoned us. He is still with us and is blessing the efforts made by each one to make a living. God despises laziness. You can’t expect to become prosperous and wealthy without hard work. Such desires without hard work could lead you into doing things that God hates. That’s why we’ll say the primary and main step to prosperity is picking up a job and working hard. Remember to put God first and you will certainly make it.

We have clearly established the fact that God wants us to prosper and make it in life. Let’s further unfold an additional 10 reasons God wants you to prosper. God wants to bless and make you successful

Let’s support this point with a biblical verse from Psalms 35:27 “May those who want to see me acquitted shout for joy and say again and again, How great is the Lord! He is pleased with the success of His servants”. I believe that this message is clear enough for everyone to understand. Yes, God wants to see you payoff all your debts, loans, and bills. He wants to see you meeting up with the basic needs of life. His purpose for creating man was not to allow him in the wilderness to drink from a cup of horrible suffering. It was out of love that he brought man into existence. And it is still with love that God wants you to prosper. In short, God is love.

Jesus Christ came to give us life in all its fullness

Reading from John 10:10, we are told that Jesus Christ unlike the devil who is out to steal, kill, and destroy came to give us life in abundance. Life in abundance, in other words, can be perceived as life in all its fullness. I’m OK with you that this verse is reassuring us of eternal life with God. Unless we realize that Satan is the author of misfortune, hatred, failure, and all sorts of evil, we’ll be fighting the wrong battle. Don’t you know that the devil has captured the prosperity stars of many? In addition, he has and is still bringing down many businesses to failure. That’s why you must stand up in the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Ghost to reclaim all your stolen blesses as you bind Satan and his agents. Jesus has already blessed us in material and spiritual things.

Jesus Christ became poor so that his followers can become rich

In the modern Church, there are lots of contradictory explanations on this very saying. I know that many people are escaping it while others are contradicting it. Whatever the case, God has given you freedom of speech. You can go ahead and say whatever you like but always remember that you’ll answer all those words on the last day. As for us, let’s support this saying by opening our Bibles to 2 Corinthians 8:9 “You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; rich as he was, he made himself poor for your sake, in order to make you rich by means of his poverty”. Reading the whole chapter informs us of how Apostle Paul was encouraging the Christians to share among themselves the riches that Jesus Christ gave them by becoming poor. So what do you want to contradict or argue? It’s clear enough for the wise.

God wants you to prosper so that you can contribute to making his name known

Let’s give credit to this saying by opening our standard of life to Deuteronomy 8:18 “Remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the power to become rich. He does this because He is still faithful today to the covenant that he made with your ancestors”. What else do you need to be convinced that God wants you to prosper? Isn’t this verse sufficient enough? Do not look further for what you already have at hand. We are clearly told that it is God who gives the power to become rich and wealthy. He does this for a purpose. The purpose is His promises in the Bible. God’s duty is to keep to His promises while ours is to prove our love to him by respecting his laws. The verse further calls on us not to forget God’s Holy name. We ought to tell others about him.

God wants you to prosper and honor him with your financial blessings

Let’s support this point by opening our Bibles to Proverbs 3:9 “Honor the Lord by making him an offering from the best of all that your land produces“. God wants to see you successful and prosperous. Prosperity is God’s will for his children. We clearly read from the proverbs that God is honored by the best gifts from our efforts. This is obviously because he loves and blesses our efforts that he merits recognition. What can we humans give to God? There is nothing we can give to him because everything belongs to him even our lives. However, our love for him can make a difference and call down heavenly blessings on us. We can only turn back to God with what he has blessed us in order to show our gratitude. And for sure he will bless us the more.

God wants you to be a cheerful giver

Let’s support this fact by opening our Bibles to Matthew 25:35-36 “I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes. Naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me“. We hear Jesus commissioning everyone to be a cheerful giver. And that whatever you give or do to someone, that you give or do unto him. And for sure, God cannot send us out for a mission without the necessary tools. It is because He has blessed us abundantly that He desires to see us share with others. With God, the more you are able to share little things, the greater blessings are attributed to you. He who can manage little things will be entrusted bigger ones.

God wants you to care for the orphans, widows, and poor people

Always remember that they are fatherless so that you can be their father. They are motherless so that you can be their mother. They are in need so that you can be their benefactor. Let’s support these sayings by referring to Proverbs 19:17 “When you give to the poor, it is like lending to the lord, and the lord will pay you back“. Let’s further read from James 1:27 “What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep ones self from being corrupted by the world“. These two Biblical verses are calling on us to be benefactors to all those in need for this is the best way to please God. Everyone has something to give no matter how small. For sure, God will double it.

God wants you to be the head and not the tail

This is another reward for all those who live to obey the Holy laws and teachings of God. He will definitely make them the head and not the tail. We can confirm this promise by reading from Deuteronomy 28:13 “The Lord your God will make you the leader among the Nations and not a follower, you will always prosper and never fail if you obey faithfully all his commands that I’m giving you today”. Obedience to God is the key to a successful and prosperous life. Once you are under the canopy of obedience before the Lord, not even the devil can temper with your blessings. Indeed, nothing was made that was made without Jesus Christ on the scene. That’s why we say with all confidence that He saved the poor widow’s two children from the suffering and hardship of slavery. He did this by blessing her with what we’ll refer to as miracle money through the major prophet, Elisha. That’s why it will be a mistake for us to talk about ways on how to receive miracle money from God without including this.

This is the story. Once upon a time among God’s people, there lived a God-fearing man who had two children. It happened that this man died as a debtor. After his burial, the man he was owning started pressurizing the widow. He insisted that the poor widow must pay back what her husband owed him else he’ll take her two sons as slaves in compensation for the money. The poor widow knowing well fully that it was impossible for her to meet up with the amount could only rely on our God of impossibilities. It was then that God sent Prophet Elisha who arrived at her house and asked her to take the small jar of olive oil she had and feel all the big jars she could gather through the power of God. She later sold this oil and had more than enough to settle her debts.

Is miracle money Biblical

Many Christians today are worried about the aspect of miracle money. While others are afraid, others are simply taking precautions to remain under the light of God. In some cases, others do not even want to know the truth. However, many are asking the question “is miracle money Biblical?”. We’ve pointed out several Biblical passages about miracle money. The Devil can mask his ritual money to look like miracle money. By doing so, he easily catches those who love money. That’s why Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 6:10 that the love of money is the begging of all sorts of evil thoughts and actions. Miracle money from heaven comes as a blessing to accompany those who are respecting God’s command for man to cultivate the soil for a living. Reaching financial freedom as a Christian

It is possible for a Christian to reach financial freedom. Financial freedom is a state in life where a person no longer worries about the money problems that are disturbing others. It is true that many people reach this state through ungodly ways. However, this must not discourage you. We know of people who have made it to the top of the financial world through legal and Godly ways. It is in this light that we say Christians can also make it in the financial world. The concept of money is more of a contradictory one in today’s modern church. There are several points of view coming from different denominations concerning the aspect of Christian financial freedom. Whatever the case, God has promised to be with us for all times. And being with us implies that He’ll bless our efforts in making a living.

Our goal in showing you how to receive miracle money from God is to help you believe that through hard work, God can bless you financially. Do not sit back with folded arms to wait for the money to come down from heaven. You’ll be making a mistake to believe that Christians are poor people. Pray and ask God to help you get a job. If you can’t get a job. Pray and ask God to help you to start your own business. When working, prioritize saving. When you’ve saved enough under the light of God, invest to grow your wealth and make much money.

How to manage your wealth in the likeness of God

God wants the best for those who start by seeking his kingdom. If you have God first in your life, you’ll stand the chance of being blessed financially. Your business would stand the chance of producing more than you can store. But we must not forget that we are simply keepers of wealth and not its owners. The true owner is God. Hence, it will be wise for us to please Him by correctly using this wealth which He has entrusted in our hands. Let’s live a life that will account for the financial blessings that God gave us on the last day. Just as Prophet T.B. Joshua regularly says:

  • They are fatherless so that you can be their father;
  • They are motherless so that you can be their mother;
  • They lack shelter so that you can provide them with a house;
  • They lack food so that you can provide them with a meal;
  • They hungry so that you can feed them;
  • They are in need so that you can be their benefactor;
  • They are sad so that you can comfort them; and
  • They are crying so that you can wipe their tears.

  • Do not allow your love for God to be determined by your financial status;
  • If you do, Satan will always get you by shaking your finances;
  • Whether poor or not always remain faithful to God;
  • A man can be poor yet be a friend of Jesus Christ;
  • Do not allow money to affect your relationship with God; and
  • In all things, we should always give thanks to God.
