Five Types of Calling in the Holy Scriptures

1. The General Call – Isaiah 43:1

Isaiah 43:1 – “Israel, the Lord who created you says, “Do not be afraid – I will save you. I have called you by your name – you are mine.” God’s call to Israel was extended by Christ to the whole world. This is to say that God is calling each and everyone of us to partake in the Heavenly feast. He is calling us by our names to join His Kingdom and contribute in one way or the other to enlarging it. 2. The Call to Belong to Christ – Romans 1:6

Romans 1:6 – “including yourselves who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.” In the Bible, the word “call” is often used to refer to belonging to Christ. Apostle Paul in most of his messages to the body of Christ keeps on reminding us that we are called to belong to Christ who bought us with His blood on the Cross at Calvary. Taking care of our bodies according to His commands is a way of honoring Him for the works of His hands and the words of His mouth that were sent forth to bring man into existence. And for sure, anyone who wanders far away from God’s presence is out of his mercy, protection, favor, and blessings. Such a person is exposed to all kinds of attacks and manipulations from the devil. For sure you are aware of the works of the devil as written in John 10:10 – “The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness.” The Devil has no free gift neither can any of his gifts benefit you. You can be sure that it will rather ruin and bring your downfall. That’s why you should canalize the the thoughts, words, and actions coming forth from your body to be aligned with the will of God.

What God says about Our Bodies

1. My Body belongs to God – 1 Corinthians 6:13

1 Corinthians 6:13 – “The body… is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” Brethren, let no one deceive you for your body belongs to God. It is His property and not yours. This is to say that you don’t own it but God does. In simple terms, God created our bodies and expects us to use them for the purpose for which they were created. Although many of us naturally rebel against this idea, we ought not to. Your getting it all wrong by thinking that the body belongs to you.

Others go to the extend of thinking that the body is not important. This is another mistake which we newshound be making. Today, the Bible has revealed the whole truth on this subject matter. Hence we should not make the same common mistake that was made some thousand years ago by Greek philosophers like Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato. They believed in dualism which holds that your mind (or spirit) is important but your body isn’t important spiritually. On several occasions, they devalued the body. Some Greek philosophers went forth to teaching that the body is evil. Hence, it won’t matter if you mess it up. But today, the Bible tells us the contrary. God made our bodies to honor Him in holiness and not in evil. Remember that everything that God makes has a purpose.

2. Jesus Christ paid for my body when he died on the cross at Calvary – 1 Corinthians 6:20

1 Corinthians 6:20 – “He bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God’s glory.” Perhaps you were not aware but a price has been paid for our bodies. It has to do with the ultimate sacrifice that was made on the cross at Calvary. The beloved son of God, Jesus Christ, willingly offered His own life on the cross so that anyone who welcomes His Key Teachings and Sincerely Repents will be forgiven and blessed with everlasting life in God’s presence. This is to say that he paid the price for our sins on the cross and bought our bodies with His blood. Christ has made an investment in us which we ought to value and protect. God has never made a person He didn’t love. Picture His son on the cross dying for your sake and you’ll understated that God loves you.

3. God’s spirit live in your body – 1 Corinthians 6:19

1 Corinthians 6:19 – “Don’t you know that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself but to God” By saying yes to God in accepting the sacrifice that was made by Jesus Christ on the cross and inviting him in faith to come and dwell in you, God puts his spirit in your body as a guarantee of your salvation. This consecrates your body as a temple of God where His spirit dwells. And we all know that it is wrong to use God’s Temple for evil purposes. That’s why we are inviting you to use your body in ways that bring glory to God. By so doing, He’ll locate you in His mercy and Favor.

4. God will resurrect and renew my body after I die – 1 Corinthians 6:14

1 Corinthians 6:14 – “By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also.” All things are possible with God. He did it in the past, he is still doing it these days and he will certainly do it in times to come. Christ overcame death and He will definitely do same for all His followers. He will resurrect us from death and give us heavenly bodies that no longer die.

The word “blessing” or “bless” comes from the Old English word bledsian. That is to say that it is based on the Old English word for blood. Chances are high that it may have originally meant “to consecrate with blood” and was used in the later days to translate the Latin word benedicaire which means “to praise, worship”. It is worth noting that the word “bless” is also used to translate the Hebrew word barak, which means “to salute, congratulate or praise.” In the common vernacular or in simple terms, the word “bless” is used to portray a special wish of good fortune upon the person receiving the blessing. From Genesis 12:1-3, God is promising good fortune, and a good future to the descendants of Abram. God further says that others will gain good fortune through Abram.

Overview

The Old Testament concept of being Blameless

In the Old Testament, the concept of blamelessness carries two different, yet not dissimilar ideas from God. The first has to do with sacrificial animals that were completely “without defect“. We can read about this first implication from Leviticus 3:1, Lev 1:3, Num 6:14 and Leviticus 3:6. Note here that only physically undefiled animals were accepted as sacrifice to God. Blemished animals were not worthy of being offered as sacrifice to the Living and Most High God. Worth your attention is the fact that in the Old Testament, “blameless” is the translation of the Hebrew words “tam” or “tamin” coming from the root word “tamam” which means complete or sound. Hence, moral completeness has to do with a life of uprightness and ethical soundness, and not necessarily a life which is sinless. Never forget that we have all sinned. But if a person follows the part of repentance and strives hard in doing what God wants, he/she is made complete through Christ in the presence of God.

The New Testament concept of being Blameless

The New Testament heightens the concept of moral blamelessness. The concept of moral blamelessness is employed almost exclusively as a characteristic of Christ and His followers. In the New Testament, the sacrificial terminology is applied to the work of Jesus Christ when He is referred to as the “true lamb of God without defect or blemish“. Let’s support this by reading from 1 Peter 1:19 – “It was the costly sacrifice of Christ, who was like a lamb without defect or flaw.” Christ through the eternal spirit offered himself unblemished to God. In search of a blameless life through Christ, our speech should be edifying and encouraging. 5. She ruthlessly guards against evil thoughts and behaviors

As followers of Christ, we have to free our lives from the captivity of evil thoughts and behaviors. It is only by so doing that we can hope for an everlasting life in His presence.

6. She values and embraces honesty

We are told by the scriptures that Satan is the Father of lies. And behold, anytime that we are less than honest, we have given into Satan’s temptation there by going against God. That is why we should be committed to honesty in our lives and conducts. In the same light, we should also expect honesty from those around us while distancing ourselves from those who reject honesty.

7. She does not collaborate with ungodly, wicked people that do not want to change

In striving for a righteous life through Christ, we should not hurry our feet or join hands with wicked people to do things that are against God. Calling on you to have nothing to do with wicked people is a call for you to completely depart from this world. While this is not possible, we are trying to advice you not to keep on dwelling or joining hands with wicked people who are not willing to welcome God’s light and start doing good. Keeping company of such people might push you into loosing focus and joining them in their wicked ways. Not that this is not a call for you not to show them love. For it is by showing them love that you are identified with Christ. You should rather not join them in their evil ways but call on them to join you in the light of God.

8. She squashes conceit and pride

Pride gives birth to an abundance of sins. That’s why you should stay away from it when embarking on the journey to achieving a blameless life through Christ. As followers of Christ, we should always embrace humility by having the right perspective about God and ourselves.

9. She does not seek gain that brings harm to others

It is true that God wants us to prosper as we can read from Jeremiah 29:11. But for the achievement of this prosperity, He wants us to make use of the skills, talents, gifts that He blessed us with. God wants us to support the advancement of His Kingdom, serve others, and provide for ourselves and family members.

10. She encourages, helps, and protects those who remain faithful to God

In striving to achieve a blameless life through Christ, we should always give value to stretching out our hands to help those in need, speaking forth words of encouragement to those who are about to give up and reassuring them of God’s ability to protect us. As we know, lust of the eyes is one of the three ways that we are tempted by the Devil to sin. In the Garden of Eden, Satan used all three lusts to tempt Eve as we can read from Genesis 3:1-6. Unfortunately she gave in to the ways of Satan. We are told in Genesis 3:6 that she saw that the tree was good for food (Lust of the Flesh); that it was beautiful or highly pleasant to the eye (Lust of the Eye); and that it would divinely make her wise like gods (Pride of Life). By so-doing, Eve used her own judgement and easily gave into temptation there by bringing the downfall of mankind.

During the 40 days fast that Jesus Christ embraced, Satan also came forward with the three lusts to make him sin. Unlike Eve, Jesus Christ resisted Satan till the end. As we can read from Luke 4:1-13, Satan challenged Jesus Christ to turn stones into bread (Lust of the Flesh); He went forth to presenting all the kingdoms of the world to Jesus Christ and promising to offer them to Him if He worshiped him (Lust of the Eyes); Finally, he took Jesus Christ to the top place or roof of the Temple and asked Him to jump off so as to proof that He was the Son of God (Pride of Life). Jesus Christ used scriptures to resist all these temptations there by living Satan with no choice that to flee away.

The English letters of this Greek word look like this: “baptidzo.” It is worth noting that the Greek word “baptidzo” literally means to “immerse” or to “dip”.

The spiritual symbolism of Baptism – Matthew 3:1-17

Unlike the unsound doctrines that many are propagating around in the name of Baptism, the divine truth is found in Matthew 3:1-17. The Bible clearly makes us to understand that the Baptism of Water is of John the Baptist while that of the Holy Spirit and Fire is of Jesus Christ. Although all these Baptisms come from God Almighty, they are attributed to different initiators. God instructed John to commence that of water while that of the Holy Spirit and Fire was reserved for his son, Jesus Christ. True Baptism by Water

We’ve deduced from the points above that true Baptism by Water has more to do with the heart than the physical actions of pouring or submerging in water. Whatever the case, this is in not a saying that the physical act of Baptism by water is by anyway less important or could be neglected. Remember the words of Jesus Christ to John the Baptist who turned off the request to Baptize him by saying that he was not worthy to baptize his master. Jesus said it must be so in order for all to do God’s will. That’s why you should not take Baptism by water lightly neither should you embrace it without a change of mind. A change of mind is what leads to Heaven through Christ. Remember the promise of eternal life that was made by Jesus Christ to one of the thieves with whom he was crucified.

We are not told anywhere in the Bible that he was Baptized by water but because he was able to acknowledge his sins and welcome the sacrifice of Christ, he was given eternal life. This example comes to encourage you to renew your mind in Christ rather than dwelling on little matters or differences in the way baptism is administered. 1. Must you be baptized in order to obtain salvation?

Mark 16:16 – “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.” You are just from hearing the words of Jesus Christ in response to question number one. However, we can’t also neglect the message from other Biblical books that were written by messengers of God. Acts 15:11 – “No! 1. Acknowledge your anger

Acknowledging your anger and desiring better feelings from God is the first Biblical step to overcoming anger. Failing to know your enemy in battle is the greatest mistake which can cost your life. 13. Unlike God, Angels are not Omnipresent, Omniscient, or Omnipotent – Daniel 10:12-13

Angels have certain limitations and boundaries. Unlike God, they are not all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present at the same time. 23. Angels will join all believers in the Heavenly Kingdom – Hebrews 12:22-23

When the right time comes, angels will join all believers in the Heavenly Kingdom. Let’s read from Hebrews 12:22-23 – “Instead, you come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, with its thousands of angels.”

24. Angels help humans – Hebrews 1:14

Hebrews 1:14 – “What are the angels, then? They are the spirits who serve God and are sent by him to help those who are to receive salvation.” There are several occasions in the Bible that we perceive angels helping the faithful. Angels ministered to Jesus Christ during his 40 days fasting in the desert. They helped him at the end of the fast when he was hungry. An angel brought answers from God to Daniel. Under God’s instructions, an angel protected Daniel from being consumed in the lion’s den. An angel kept Daniel’s three friends safe even in the midst of burning flames. An angel brought good news to Zechariah, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Paul. This is just to name a few.
