Never forget that we’ll give an account of all actions on the last day before the Father of creation.

Generally, when Christians ask or seek to know about their calling or vocation, they are seeking to know whether God is calling them to a particular job, type of work, or profession. A glance across the Bible will reveal how God called people to various works and did provide them with various kinds of guidance to accomplish the work they were called to do.

Bible Verses About Calling

Although the Holy Scriptures seldom use the word “call” to describe God’s guidance to occupations, tasks or jobs, most of the word’s occurrence in the Bible are pointing to vocational “calling”. The concept of calling in the Bible goes deeper than any one aspect of life, say work. We are taught by the scriptures that God calls people to be united with Him in every single aspect of their lives. This takes place when we respond to the call of Christ to carry our cross and follow Him on daily basis. Note that we follow Jesus Christ by sincerely repenting and obeying the Key Teachings which He received from His Father, God Almighty.

Five Types of Calling in the Holy Scriptures

1. The General Call – Isaiah 43:1

Isaiah 43:1 – “Israel, the Lord who created you says, “Do not be afraid – I will save you. I have called you by your name – you are mine.” God’s call to Israel was extended by Christ to the whole world. This is to say that God is calling each and everyone of us to partake in the Heavenly feast. He is calling us by our names to join His Kingdom and contribute in one way or the other to enlarging it. Let’s hear what Apostle Paul says in Romans 11:29 – “The gifts and call of God are irrevocable.” God does not repeal, reverse, or cancel His call. The Omnipotent call of God in our lives guarantee His invisible purpose for creating us. God on calling us has justified us through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.

It is left for us to answer this call by repenting from our sins and turning to Him through Christ. This is a call that guarantees eternal life in His presence. And anyone who answers it will live to testify the goodness of God. Jesus Christ puts it this way in John 10:27-29 – “My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”

2. The Call to Belong to Christ – Romans 1:6

Romans 1:6 – “including yourselves who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.” In the Bible, the word “call” is often used to refer to belonging to Christ. Apostle Paul in most of his messages to the body of Christ keeps on reminding us that we are called to belong to Christ who bought us with His blood on the Cross at Calvary. The starting point for Christians has to do with exploring the call to follow Christ in their thoughts, words, and actions. As followers of Christ, we are able to make God look glorious in our lives. Let’s further read from Romans 8:28 –All things work together for good for those who love God, who are calling according to His purpose

3. The Call to participate in Christ’s Redemptive Work – Mark 16:15

Mark 16:15 – “He said to them, “Go throughout the whole world and preach the gospel to the whole human race.”” We are all called to participate in Christ’s redemptive work. This is to say that when we are called to follow Christ, we are also called to revive the relationship with God, other people, and with the world around us. This has to do with our personal being and actions. Note that the call to a particular kind of work is secondary to the call to belong to Christ as well as that to participate in His redemptive work in the world. Although He had no sin of His own, He suffered and was crucified for our sake. This clearly reveals an unconditional and immeasurable love for mankind which we ought to reveal to our neighbors through our thoughts, words, and actions.

4. The Universal Call to Work – Exodus 20:9

Exodus 20:9 – “Six days you shall labor and do all your work” God commands everyone to work to the degree that they are able. He created people to work and we are honoring Him by working. Remember what He did to Adam in Genesis 3:23 – “So the Lord God sent him out of the Garden of Eden and made him cultivate the soil from which he had been formed.” In the scriptures, we perceive Moses calling for a fair treatment of workers. We also perceive Christ demonstrating good and faithful work. In addition, Apostle Paul in his teachings requires people to work in order to be part of a community. Apostle Paul went forth to demonstrate a life of hard-work in order to meet his needs as well as encourage his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to embrace hard work.

5. The Call to Life – 2 Corinthians 4:14

2 Corinthians 4:14 – “We know that God, who raise the Lord Jesus to life, will also raise us up with Jesus and take us, together with you, into His presence.” Brethren, there is much to rejoice for. Remember that God has called us into Life and Hope. As followers of Christ, we can live and die with the full assurance of an everlasting life that awaits us in the presence of God almighty. That’s why we should embrace the sovereignty of God and be completely pleased to be used in whatever manner He sees fit for His glory and the advancement of His Kingdom. The call of God is an effective one which creates what it commands. The mighty call of God to life comes with the power and ability to do what it demands. Through God’s call to life, we are brought to life, freedom, glory, and light.

Understanding the Calling of God to Vocational Ministry

Behold, every Christian is called by God to accomplish a specific purpose. Upon pouring light on the different types of callings, we’ll like to go a little deeper in helping you to understand what vocational ministry is all about. To start, we’ll like to high-lighten the fact that the call to vocational ministry has unique demands. This call should not be pursued without counsel, prayer, and spiritual examination. Through this piece of writing, we hope to provide you with what is necessary for discerning God’s calling to vocational ministry.

Understanding what it means to be called into ministry

Have you ever asked yourself what it means to be “called into ministry” or “called of God?” The basic truth is that as Christians, we are all called to follow and obey the Key Teachings of Jesus Christ. Let’s support this message by reading from Luke 9:23 – “If anyone would come after me he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” The call to follow Jesus Christ is the ultimate call on our lives. The very concept of divine calling has been misunderstood on several occasions within the Christian community. The call of God on a Christian’s life can sometimes be confused with personal dreams and ambitions. Note here that the purpose of a divine call on a Christian’s life or the call to minister to God’s people is not something we create or buy but one that comes from God.

God places this call on a person’s life to serve a purpose in advancing His kingdom. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament reveal how God frequently called people to Himself and for the accomplishment of His work. Genesis 12:1-9 recounts how God called Abraham and commanded him to leave his home to an unknown destination to him. 1 Corinthians 1:1 and Romans 1:1 tells us that Paul was called to be an Apostle by Christ. Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesian church points out to the fact that God “gave some apostles; and some, prophets, and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers” as we can read from Ephesians 4:11. These are important roles in building up the body of Christ.

Is God calling me to serve in Ministry?

If you are serious about how to know God’s calling in your life, then you are at the right place. A good number of people make use of the spiritual gift test to know their callings while others pray for visions and divinely inspired words from church elders. Whatever the case, there is much to say when dealing with ways on how to discern or understand whether God is calling you into vocational ministry. Confirming a call to vocational ministry is a whole process on its own. In as much as you want to be sure of it, God wants to assist you in finding that assurance.

However, God won’t drop an envelop from Heaven that tells you your calling. This does not also means that He has abandoned us without elements of indication pointing to our callings. For this purpose, God has provided practical, rational, and spiritual resources to guide us such as follows:

Tips to guide you in confining whether you are called for vocational ministry
  1. The primary call in everyone’s life is that to follow Jesus Christ in spirit ad truth. Always remember that the greatest call is that to know Jesus Christ Himself. Knowing Jesus Christ has to do with loving Him. Loving Him has to do with obeying His teachings and turning away from sin.
  2. Pay attention to your God-given desires. Value those things that God has put in your heart to do. Such things will always be inline with His Holy word in the Bible. Remember that a calling is something that God places in you as we read from Philippians 2:13.
  3. Actively listen with interest and discernment to the counsel, encouragements, and advice of Christian leaders, pastors, parents, and church members. Remember that God places some people in our lives to help us learn more about him.
  4. Avoid the tendency of trying to figure out your calling alone. Remember that in most cases, it is the people to whom you minister that will notice and confirm the ministry gift within you.
  5. Actively embrace and regularly participate in the community of God, the local church. Note that your local church is not only the “house of God” but it is also an incubator of ministry callings.
  6. Avoid the tendency of trying to be a carbon-copy of other pastors or ministers of the gospel. Let yourself to be influenced by their Christ-like example and also learn all what you can from them but always remember that you are “God’s workmanship” as we can read from Ephesians 2:10. Hence, you have your own unique purpose to fulfill.
  7. Embrace and serve all those who have been send to you by God. Do this in love, passion, compassion, mercy, and joy. Always remember that the life of ministry is one which is fueled by the love for God’s creatures.
  8. Cultivate a heart of obedience in serving God and answering His call on your life.
  9. Avoid worry or anxiety in finding your calling as we can read from Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but pray about everything and present your requests to God, and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ.
  10. Value every opportunity to pray and seek God’s will for your life. Also embrace every opportunity to talk with Church elders and godly counselors. Although your calling might seem a little blurry right now, just continuously pray and remain faithful to God. He will open your eyes and make things clear to your understanding.

Bible Verses About Body

There are many Bible Verses About Body worth knowing by all followers of Christ. It is our responsibility to take care of our bodies. God made us in His image and gave us the bodies which we have. Taking care of our bodies according to His commands is a way of honoring Him for the works of His hands and the words of His mouth that were sent forth to bring man into existence. Upon creating us, God gave us the ability to choose between what is good and what is evil. Embracing good thoughts, actions, and words through Christ will make you receptive to God’s divine mercy and favor. Thoughts, actions, and words all come from the human body and when they are aligned with God’s will, they become a blessing for us.

Failing to honor God with our bodies is moving away from his presence or righteous light. And for sure, anyone who wanders far away from God’s presence is out of his mercy, protection, favor, and blessings. Such a person is exposed to all kinds of attacks and manipulations from the devil. For sure you are aware of the works of the devil as written in John 10:10 – “The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness.” The Devil has no free gift neither can any of his gifts benefit you. You can be sure that it will rather ruin and bring your downfall. That’s why you should canalize the the thoughts, words, and actions coming forth from your body to be aligned with the will of God.

Bible Verses About Body

Just as we previously mentioned, there are many Bible Verses On Body worth knowing by all followers of Christ. But before we proceed in listing these Bible verses, it is important that we pour more light on what God wants from us when it comes to handling our bodies. It is without doubt that God has much to say about the importance of the body He gave us. The following scriptures summarize everything on how important our bodies are before God.

1 Corinthians 6:12-14 – ““I have the right to do anything,” you say — but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything” — but I will not be mastered by anything. You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also.

1 Corinthians 6:15-20 – “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ Himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!… Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

What God says about Our Bodies

1. My Body belongs to God – 1 Corinthians 6:13

1 Corinthians 6:13 – “The body… is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” Brethren, let no one deceive you for your body belongs to God. It is His property and not yours. This is to say that you don’t own it but God does. In simple terms, God created our bodies and expects us to use them for the purpose for which they were created. Although many of us naturally rebel against this idea, we ought not to. Your getting it all wrong by thinking that the body belongs to you.

Others go to the extend of thinking that the body is not important. This is another mistake which we newshound be making. Today, the Bible has revealed the whole truth on this subject matter. Hence we should not make the same common mistake that was made some thousand years ago by Greek philosophers like Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato. They believed in dualism which holds that your mind (or spirit) is important but your body isn’t important spiritually. On several occasions, they devalued the body. Some Greek philosophers went forth to teaching that the body is evil. Hence, it won’t matter if you mess it up. But today, the Bible tells us the contrary. God made our bodies to honor Him in holiness and not in evil. Remember that everything that God makes has a purpose.

2. Jesus Christ paid for my body when he died on the cross at Calvary – 1 Corinthians 6:20

1 Corinthians 6:20 – “He bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God’s glory.” Perhaps you were not aware but a price has been paid for our bodies. It has to do with the ultimate sacrifice that was made on the cross at Calvary. The beloved son of God, Jesus Christ, willingly offered His own life on the cross so that anyone who welcomes His Key Teachings and Sincerely Repents will be forgiven and blessed with everlasting life in God’s presence. This is to say that he paid the price for our sins on the cross and bought our bodies with His blood. Christ has made an investment in us which we ought to value and protect. God has never made a person He didn’t love. Picture His son on the cross dying for your sake and you’ll understated that God loves you.

3. God’s spirit live in your body – 1 Corinthians 6:19

1 Corinthians 6:19 – “Don’t you know that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself but to God” By saying yes to God in accepting the sacrifice that was made by Jesus Christ on the cross and inviting him in faith to come and dwell in you, God puts his spirit in your body as a guarantee of your salvation. This consecrates your body as a temple of God where His spirit dwells. And we all know that it is wrong to use God’s Temple for evil purposes. That’s why we are inviting you to use your body in ways that bring glory to God. By so doing, He’ll locate you in His mercy and Favor.

4. God will resurrect and renew my body after I die – 1 Corinthians 6:14

1 Corinthians 6:14 – “By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also.” All things are possible with God. He did it in the past, he is still doing it these days and he will certainly do it in times to come. Christ overcame death and He will definitely do same for all His followers. He will resurrect us from death and give us heavenly bodies that no longer die.

Bible Verses About Blessings From God

There are many Bible Verses About Blessings From God worth knowing by all followers of Christ. We often hear the phrase that “God bless you” on regular basis if not daily basis. Through Christ, we’ve all been blessed in one way or the other. Let’s support this by reading from John 1:16 – Out of the fullness of his grace he has blessed us all, giving us one blessing after another” God in his immeasurable love and goodness blesses us with all what we need to make a living on Earth. That’s why Christ called on us not to dwell our hearts in worries about the food we’ll eat, the cloths we’ll put-on, and other things of this kind. He further pointed out that if God is able to cloth the flowers in the bush and feed the births that neither work nor store food, He’ll do much more for us.

Biblical blessings are generally associated with joy, protection, happiness, prosperity, peace, and love. Blessings from the Most High are meant to give us hope, protect us, and guide us to the path of righteousness that brings everlasting life. And behold, it is the duty of every follower of Christ to be aware of his/her blessings. We are more likely to successfully claim that which we are aware of. It’s almost impossible to claim something that you are not aware of. Chances of receiving from God are high when you request what is inline with his will or promises for you. You are running a risk of not receiving by asking things that are not aligned with God’s promises. That’s why the scriptures say that God’s people perish because they lack knowledge of his ways, laws, promises, and will (Hosea 4:6).

Biblical Definition Of A Blessing

The word “blessing” or “bless” comes from the Old English word bledsian. That is to say that it is based on the Old English word for blood. Chances are high that it may have originally meant “to consecrate with blood” and was used in the later days to translate the Latin word benedicaire which means “to praise, worship”. It is worth noting that the word “bless” is also used to translate the Hebrew word barak, which means “to salute, congratulate or praise.” In the common vernacular or in simple terms, the word “bless” is used to portray a special wish of good fortune upon the person receiving the blessing. From Genesis 12:1-3, God is promising good fortune, and a good future to the descendants of Abram. God further says that others will gain good fortune through Abram.

Today, those who believe in the God of Israel are consecrated with the blood of Jesus Christ by faith and set aside to benefit from the blessings of Abram whose name was changed by God to Abraham. The Hebrew word barak literally means “to kneel”. Here, the word portrays the relationship between man and God. A relationship in which man adores God by kneeling, and God benefits man with His presence. Another word translated “blessing” that occurs frequently in the Proverbs and Psalms is the Hebrew word esher, which means a state of happiness as we can read from Proverbs 3:1-4 and Psalm 1:1. In the New Testament, there are two Greek words that are translated as “blessing”. The first is makarios, which has the same meaning as the Hebrew word esher. The other is eulogeo, which is used to say a good word or give a good report.

Bible Verses About Blameless

Overview

The Old Testament concept of being Blameless

In the Old Testament, the concept of blamelessness carries two different, yet not dissimilar ideas from God. The first has to do with sacrificial animals that were completely “without defect“. We can read about this first implication from Leviticus 3:1, Lev 1:3, Num 6:14 and Leviticus 3:6. Note here that only physically undefiled animals were accepted as sacrifice to God. Blemished animals were not worthy of being offered as sacrifice to the Living and Most High God. Offering these blemished animals was in violation of Biblical laws and a demonstration of disrespect for God. It was from this religious ritual idea that the notion of moral perfection for individuals came into existence. “Blameless” people are those who cannot be accused of wrongdoing before others and God (Romans 18:23; 15:2)

Worth your attention is the fact that in the Old Testament, “blameless” is the translation of the Hebrew words “tam” or “tamin” coming from the root word “tamam” which means complete or sound. Hence, moral completeness has to do with a life of uprightness and ethical soundness, and not necessarily a life which is sinless. Never forget that we have all sinned. But if a person follows the part of repentance and strives hard in doing what God wants, he/she is made complete through Christ in the presence of God.

The New Testament concept of being Blameless

The New Testament heightens the concept of moral blamelessness. The concept of moral blamelessness is employed almost exclusively as a characteristic of Christ and His followers. In the New Testament, the sacrificial terminology is applied to the work of Jesus Christ when He is referred to as the “true lamb of God without defect or blemish“. Let’s support this by reading from 1 Peter 1:19 – “It was the costly sacrifice of Christ, who was like a lamb without defect or flaw.” Christ through the eternal spirit offered himself unblemished to God. The blameless character of Christ is portrayed by his continuous work as the believer’s high priest who “meets our need – one who is pure, blameless, holy, set apart from sinners, and exalted above the Heavens and the Earth.

10 Characteristics of a blameless person

1. She practices praise

This point has to do with regularly contemplating the holy nature of God. Fully recognizing his worthiness will guide us into obedience. Acknowledging God for who He is should be the duty of all His creatures. Get more info on this by reading our Best Bible Verses About Acknowledging God.

2. She lives with integrity at home

In striving to live a blameless life, we must watch our words and actions at home as well as other places that we find ourselves. At times, we fail to purposefully watch our words and actions thereby leading ourselves into sin. We shouldn’t let our guard down thereby allowing our first, sinful instinct to rule.

3. She turns away from everything vulgar or vile

In our effort to obtain a blameless life through Christ, we should work hard in order not to be compromised by the sinful ways of this world. That is, we should not allow ourselves to become desensitized to crudeness, or immorality.

4. She does not use her words to tear down others

In search of a blameless life through Christ, our speech should be edifying and encouraging. Although this does not mean that everything we are going to say will be easy, it is a call for us to provide value to all those listening to our speeches. Remember that there is power in words. For sure, you are aware of the spiritual truth that God created Heaven and Earth with words. Let’s support the fact that there is power in words by reading from Proverbs 18:20-21 – “You will have to live with the consequences of everything that you say. What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.”

5. She ruthlessly guards against evil thoughts and behaviors

As followers of Christ, we have to free our lives from the captivity of evil thoughts and behaviors. It is only by so doing that we can hope for an everlasting life in His presence.

6. She values and embraces honesty

We are told by the scriptures that Satan is the Father of lies. And behold, anytime that we are less than honest, we have given into Satan’s temptation there by going against God. That is why we should be committed to honesty in our lives and conducts. In the same light, we should also expect honesty from those around us while distancing ourselves from those who reject honesty.

7. She does not collaborate with ungodly, wicked people that do not want to change

In striving for a righteous life through Christ, we should not hurry our feet or join hands with wicked people to do things that are against God. Calling on you to have nothing to do with wicked people is a call for you to completely depart from this world. While this is not possible, we are trying to advice you not to keep on dwelling or joining hands with wicked people who are not willing to welcome God’s light and start doing good. Keeping company of such people might push you into loosing focus and joining them in their wicked ways. Not that this is not a call for you not to show them love. For it is by showing them love that you are identified with Christ. You should rather not join them in their evil ways but call on them to join you in the light of God.

8. She squashes conceit and pride

Pride gives birth to an abundance of sins. That’s why you should stay away from it when embarking on the journey to achieving a blameless life through Christ. As followers of Christ, we should always embrace humility by having the right perspective about God and ourselves.

9. She does not seek gain that brings harm to others

It is true that God wants us to prosper as we can read from Jeremiah 29:11. But for the achievement of this prosperity, He wants us to make use of the skills, talents, gifts that He blessed us with. God wants us to support the advancement of His Kingdom, serve others, and provide for ourselves and family members.

10. She encourages, helps, and protects those who remain faithful to God

In striving to achieve a blameless life through Christ, we should always give value to stretching out our hands to help those in need, speaking forth words of encouragement to those who are about to give up and reassuring them of God’s ability to protect us. Never forget the importance of Trusting God in the Face of Impossibilities.

We have those verses that praise beauty on a spiritual level, and those that warm us against over-focusing on physical appearance in the name of beauty. According to the world, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” In simple terms, many people believe that beauty is defined by the observer. Many perceive beauty as a combination of qualities such as color, shape, or form that is pleasing the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.

Billions of dollars are spent yearly by old people who want to become young with an appearance of beauty. On the other hand, young people are also spending huge sums just to look old as a way of portraying their own beauty. Is this true beauty? Or could it be that we are missing something. Whatever the case, the Bible is clear on the true definition of beauty. The Bible clearly defines beauty in a different way from the world. While the world focuses on an outer appearance, the Bible focuses on inward qualities as beauty. According to the Bible, anything seductive to the eyes is called lust of the eyes as we can read from Romans 1:27, Matthew 5:28, and Proverbs 6:25-26. And behold, lust of the eyes is one of the three ways that we are tempted to sin according to 1 John 2:16 and James 1:13-15.

Bible Verses About Beauty

Coming back to what the world perceives as beauty while the Bible points to it as lust, we’ll like to pour more light to the three types of lust previously mentioned. As we know, lust of the eyes is one of the three ways that we are tempted by the Devil to sin. In the Garden of Eden, Satan used all three lusts to tempt Eve as we can read from Genesis 3:1-6. Unfortunately she gave in to the ways of Satan. We are told in Genesis 3:6 that she saw that the tree was good for food (Lust of the Flesh); that it was beautiful or highly pleasant to the eye (Lust of the Eye); and that it would divinely make her wise like gods (Pride of Life). By so-doing, Eve used her own judgement and easily gave into temptation there by bringing the downfall of mankind.

During the 40 days fast that Jesus Christ embraced, Satan also came forward with the three lusts to make him sin. Unlike Eve, Jesus Christ resisted Satan till the end. As we can read from Luke 4:1-13, Satan challenged Jesus Christ to turn stones into bread (Lust of the Flesh); He went forth to presenting all the kingdoms of the world to Jesus Christ and promising to offer them to Him if He worshiped him (Lust of the Eyes); Finally, he took Jesus Christ to the top place or roof of the Temple and asked Him to jump off so as to proof that He was the Son of God (Pride of Life). Jesus Christ used scriptures to resist all these temptations there by living Satan with no choice that to flee away.

What does the Scriptures say about true beauty?

The Bible portrays true beauty as beauty on the inside. Such beauty is usually accompanied by good works and faithful to God. Always remember that true beauty can not be separated from the Love of God. And worth noting is the fact that loving God is being faithful to his commands. Good works alone cannot make-up for genuine beauty. Remember that what some people might perceive as good works might be the cause of troubles, worries, sin and death of others. Remember the stories of Adolph Hitler, Mao Tse Tung, and Joseph Stalin. While many perceived their works as good out of interest, these very works led to the death of millions. Truth be told, there is no beauty in such. Their actions were motivated but everything apart from the love of God which is the true source of beauty. This is supported by the Bible verses about beauty.

Bible Verses About Baptism

What is Baptism?

In simple terms, Baptism is an outward act that symbolizes the inward decision of willingly coming to and accepting Jesus Christ as real, as God incarnate, and as the sacrificial lamb of God that takes away the sins of all those who believe in him as he reconciles them with God and breaks the spiral of sin that dates back to the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. In Christianity, Baptism is the first step of discipleship. Its main purpose is to portray a visual testimony of our commitment to Christ. The Greek word for “Baptism” is “βαπτιζω”. The English letters of this Greek word look like this: “baptidzo.” It is worth noting that the Greek word “baptidzo” literally means to “immerse” or to “dip”.

The spiritual symbolism of Baptism – Matthew 3:1-17

Unlike the unsound doctrines that many are propagating around in the name of Baptism, the divine truth is found in Matthew 3:1-17. The Bible clearly makes us to understand that the Baptism of Water is of John the Baptist while that of the Holy Spirit and Fire is of Jesus Christ. Although all these Baptisms come from God Almighty, they are attributed to different initiators. God instructed John to commence that of water while that of the Holy Spirit and Fire was reserved for his son, Jesus Christ. Hence, if there is any qualified servant of God to teach us what God truly wants from Water Baptism, it is John the Baptist. And on to our knowledge, the teachings of John the Baptist on Baptism are clearly revealed in Matthew 3:1-17.

John the Baptist in his own words say in Matthew 3:11 – “I BAPTIZE you with WATER to show that you have REPENTED, but the one who comes after me will baptize you with the HOLY SPIRIT and FIRE. He is much greater than I am; and I am not good enough to carry his sandals.” This Biblical verse answers almost all, if not all questions surrounding baptism by water. Baptism by water is a physical act that shows an inward change of heart. It indicates an individual who has Sincerely Repented from their sins and decided to follow the ways of God by obeying the Key Teachings of Jesus Christ.

Unclear teachings about Baptism by Water

The explanations above put in question the doctrine propagated by many when they say that the symbolism of baptism is that, just as Christ died and was buried, every baptized person is completely immersed or submerged under water. And that just as Christ rose from beneath the Earth, every baptized person rises again from beneath the water. And many use this as a supportive point to the belief that baptism is solely by submersion into moving water. Whatever the case, we’ll call on your attention to the fact that no matter the way that baptism by water is administered, it will do no good to the person concerned so long as they haven’t repented and turned to God with the desire to do his will. True Baptism by water is more of the heart than the physical act that we see.

That’s why John the Baptist yelled at the Pharisees and Sadducees by calling them snakes and telling them that they can’t escape God’s punishment by simply being Baptized by Water without having changed their minds and doing what is right before God. Let’s support this by reading from Matthew 3:7-8 – “When John saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to him to be baptized, he said to them, “you snakes – who told you that you could escape from the punishment that God is about to send? Do those things that will show that you have turned from your sins.” It is without doubt that John the Baptist in his teachings and actions was pointing to or preparing the way for Christ. That’s why we’ll say that Baptism by water when accompanied with a renewed mind is a sign of commitment and devotion to Christ.

True Baptism by Water

We’ve deduced from the points above that true Baptism by Water has more to do with the heart than the physical actions of pouring or submerging in water. Whatever the case, this is in not a saying that the physical act of Baptism by water is by anyway less important or could be neglected. Remember the words of Jesus Christ to John the Baptist who turned off the request to Baptize him by saying that he was not worthy to baptize his master. Jesus said it must be so in order for all to do God’s will. That’s why you should not take Baptism by water lightly neither should you embrace it without a change of mind. A change of mind is what leads to Heaven through Christ. Remember the promise of eternal life that was made by Jesus Christ to one of the thieves with whom he was crucified.

We are not told anywhere in the Bible that he was Baptized by water but because he was able to acknowledge his sins and welcome the sacrifice of Christ, he was given eternal life. This example comes to encourage you to renew your mind in Christ rather than dwelling on little matters or differences in the way baptism is administered. Ask God to bless you with wisdom to take the right decisions and He will definitely do. We’ve learned from the scriptures that when the Son of Man heals you, you are healed indeed, when he washes your sins, you are whiter than snow, and when He forgives you, your are forgiven indeed. It is in this light that we are calling on you to focus more on an inward change of heart.

Questions and Answers About Baptism

1. Must you be baptized in order to obtain salvation?

Mark 16:16 – “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.” You are just from hearing the words of Jesus Christ in response to question number one. However, we can’t also neglect the message from other Biblical books that were written by messengers of God. Acts 15:11 – “No! We believe and are saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they are.” In Acts 15 and Romans 4, Apostle Paul continuously points to the fact that salvation is obtained by Divine Grace and not by our works. Whatever the case, We’ll advice every Christian to get baptized without hesitation. Baptism did not come from man but from God. Remember that Jesus Christ showed us an example by being baptized by John.

2. Should a person be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ or in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?

Both are valid baptismal ways that are mentioned in the Bible. While some churches baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in accordance to Matthew 28:19, others do administer baptism in the name of Jesus Christ as we can read from Acts 2:38.

3. Who can be baptized?

Many Christian Churches practice both infant and adult baptism. These churches support their action by citing Acts 16:15 and Acts 16:33, where entire families, presumably including infants, were baptized. While some churches baptize all infants, others baptize only infants of believing parents. The Baptist church and some others practice the believer’s baptism there by excluding infants and restricting baptism only to those who consciously repent from sin and experience spiritual rebirth. They support their act by saying that the baptisms recorded in the New Testament were of conscious adults who had repented from their sins and joined the faithfuls.

4. What is the proper method for administering baptism?

We still hold to our previously mentioned point that you should be more concerned about repenting from your sins or renewing your mind and turning to follow God that on the physical aspect of pouring or submersion as form of administering baptism by water. The Baptist church and others hold that full-body immersion into water is necessary for a valid baptism. They support their belief with the literal meaning of the Greek word for baptism which is immersion or submersion. They also point to most of the early church baptisms which were apparently ministered by immersion.

On the other hand, the majority of churches administer baptism by pouring or sprinkling water over the head of the person concerned instead of immersion. It is without doubt that they also have strong Biblical reasons for doing such. They support their action by saying that baptizo could also mean a simple worship, as we can read from Luke11:38. In addition to this, the Old Testament Baptisms were administered in different ways, and even some of the New Testament Baptisms apparently did not involve immersion as we can read from Acts 10:47-48 and Acts 16:29-34.

In simple terms, the uncontrollable weight of anger leads to sin as we are told by the Bible verses about anger. An objective look both in the Old and New Testament will reveal God’s mind about this very subject matter of anger. We cannot continue carrying the weight of anger all through our lives. General Overview

What Does The Bible Say About Anger?

What does the Bible teach about anger? is the question we hear many people asking. In both the Old and New Testament, the Bible teaches that uncontrolled anger causes more harm that good to the person harboring it and those surrounding him/her. Let’s support this by reading from Proverbs 29:22 – “People with quick tempers cause a lot of quarreling and trouble.” Although anger may be justified at times, the Holy Scriptures say that all those who continuously have “fits of anger” will not gain salvation talk less of seeing God.

Let’s support this by reading from Galatians 5:19-21 – “What human nature does is quite plain. It shows itself in immoral, filthy, and indecent actions; in worship of idols and witchcraft. People become enemies and they fight; they become jealous, angry, and ambitious, They separate into parties and groups; they are envious, get drunk, have orgies, and do other things like these. I warn you now as I have before: those who do these things will not posses the Kingdom of God.” These spiritual truths are also being supported by the other Bible verses about anger which we’ll present in the later part of this writing.

Is anger always wrong?

Truth be told, anger is not always wrong. In some cases, it can be justified in the light of God’s justice. Remember Nehemiah, the Bible tells us that he “became very angry” when he learned that some of his fellow worshipers where being oppressed. Let’s read this from Nehemiah 5:6 – “When I heard their complains, I was angry.” Even God gets angry by some of our thoughts, words, and actions. Remember that when the children of Israel broke their agreement to worship only him and started worshiping other gods, the Bible says “Jehovah’s anger blazed against them” as we can read from Judges 2:13, 14. Whatever the case, God’s anger is always under control and well justified as we can read from Exodus 34:6 and Isaiah 48:9.

When is anger wrong?

Anger is wrong when it is uncontrolled or unjustified. Humans regularly get into the pit of unjustified and uncontrollable anger which leads to sin. Remember the story of Cain. His anger against his brother which led to murder was unjustified. When God rejected his sacrifice but accepted that of his brother, he was unable to control the jealousy within him which led to anger and ended up in the murder of his brother (Genesis 4:3-8).

God also reproached Prophet Jonah for getting angry about the mercy He had for those living in Nineveh and decided not to destroy them for their sins. It is in this light that we are inviting you to have compassion, mercy and strive hard towards forgiving all those who hurt you. This will keep you far from anger which leads to sin. By forgiving others, God will also forgive you. Note that the same measures you apply on others will also be applied on you by God. Holding them responsible is a way of requesting God to also hold you responsible. To understand the deep spiritual truth behind divine forgiveness, we’ll recommend that you read our Bible Verses About Forgiveness.

5 Biblical Steps To Controlling Anger – Ephesians 4:26

1. Acknowledge your anger

Acknowledging your anger and desiring better feelings from God is the first Biblical step to overcoming anger. Failing to know your enemy in battle is the greatest mistake which can cost your life. That’s why we say here that if you are serious about overcoming the spirit of anger through the authority in the name of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, you’ll need to first acknowledge it and desire help as you turn to God. Let’s support this by reading from Ephesians 4:26 – “”Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath.”

2. Set your will to forgive at all times and always – Colossians 3:13

Perhaps you were not aware that forgiveness is one of the main keys into divine happiness. By forgiving all those who hurt your feelings, you are are lifting off a heavy load from your back and making your mind receptive to receiving the true peace and harmony that comes from Christ. In short, forgiveness helps you to escape from the deathly grip of anger and all that comes with it. Let’s support this by reading Colossians 3:13 – “bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.” Also read our Bible Verses About Forgiveness.

3. Pray the prayer of forgiveness – Acts 7:59-60

Knowing that forgiveness is the key to fleeing from anger, it is important that we take action to put our commitment of forgiveness in effect. By verbalizing your forgiveness unto all those who have hurt you as Jesus Christ and Stephen did before those who killed them, you are more likely to let go and experience genuine peace and happiness from God. Let’s support this message by reading from Acts 7:59-60 – And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”

4. Ask God to help you in overcoming the spirit of anger – Philippians 4:6-7

Genuinely forgiving those who have hurt you, persecuted you, betrayed you, and cheated you is more of a challenging task. A we know, true forgiveness is far from mere words coming out of the mouth. It is a matter of the heart where God dwells. Whatever the case, God’s grace is sufficient for us to let go and embrace even those who have declared themselves enemies of our progress. We can do this in Christ because we know that God is in control and he renders justice to who it dues. Let’s support this by reading from Philippians 4:6-7 – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

5. Refuse to keep thinking about the offense – 2 Corinthians 10:5

Refuse to keep on thinking about the offense and ask God to heal the wound in your heart and it shall be well with you. By repetitively thinking about the offense, you cannot talk about forgiveness. In addition, you’ll cause yourself more harm than good. Remember the words of Jesus Christ that are calling on us to bring the loads in our hearts to his feet and he’ll help us in carrying them. Let’s support this message by reading from 2 Corinthians 10:5 – “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Bible Verses About Angels

Our write-up is aimed at presenting the Best Bible Verses About Angels. As we know, Angels are God’s messengers. They are invisible except when they assume a shape to appear before human beings. There are many questions surrounding these spiritual beings. Chances are high that you have had your mind puzzled at some point in time with questions about them. Why where angels created? What do angels look like? And what do angels occupy themselves doing? These are few among the many questions puzzling our minds about angels. It is without doubt that humans have always held an amazing fascination for angels as well as angelic beings. Over the past centuries, artists of all kinds did work extra hard to capture images of angels on canvas. However, the Bible Verses On Angels will help us to better know them.

You’ll certainly find it strange to learn that the Biblical description of angels has little to do with what is typically depicted in paintings. You’ve probably heard and seen the paintings of those cute little chubby babies with wings in the name of angels. Unfortunately, these are the images that come to our minds whenever we hear of angels. Unlike what many people believe in, Ezekiel 1:1-28 clearly gives a brilliant description of angels. By putting down God’s massage in writing, Prophet Ezekiel portrays angels as four winged creatures. When we read from Ezekiel 10:20, we are told by the Prophet that angels are called Cherubim. We can derive from the Bible that most angels have the appearance and form of a man. Note that many of them have wings, but not all. While some angels are larger than life, others have multiple faces.

Bible Verses About Angels

The angels with multiple faces appear like a man from one angle, and a lion, eagle, or ox from another angle. While some angels look like ordinary humans, others are bright, shining, and fiery. While angels can become visible to the human eye at the command of God, they are mostly invisible. Although invisible, their presence can be felt and their voices heard by those whom God has made receptive. Angels are mentioned 273 times in the Bible. Since creation, they’ve been playing an important role in the presence of God and in human history. That’s why they were mentioned on several occasions in the Bible. Although we won’t analyze every single instance that angels were mentioned in the Bible, we’ll guide you in a step-by-step manner to understand what the Bible says about these overwhelming and fascinating divine creatures.

In as much as humans, angels also have the ability to exercise their own will as we can deduce from Isaiah 14:12-14 – “How you have fallen from heaven,O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart,”I will ascend to heaven;I will raise my throneabove the stars of God I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;I will make myself like the Most High.”” In the same likeness, we can also read from Jude 1:6 –And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.”

13. Unlike God, Angels are not Omnipresent, Omniscient, or Omnipotent – Daniel 10:12-13

Angels have certain limitations and boundaries. Unlike God, they are not all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present at the same time. Let’s support this saying by reading from Daniel 10:12-13 – “Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.” Let’s also read from Jude 1:9 – “But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

14. Angels are too numerous to count – Psalm 68:17

The Holy Scriptures point to the fact that there exist an incalculable number of angels. Let’s support this be reading Psalm 68:17 – “The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands …” Let’s also read from Hebrews 12:22 – “But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly …

15. Most angels remained faithful to God – Revelation 5:11-12

Although some angels rebelled against God’s authority, the vast majority stayed faithful to him. This saying is deduced from Revelation 5:11-12 – “Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

16. Only one angel in the Bible is called Archangel – Daniel 10:13

Michael is the one and only angel that the Bible refers to as archangel. Let’s support this by reading from Daniel 10:13 – “The angel prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief angels, came to help me, because I had been left there alone in Persia.” Let’s also read Revelation 12:7 – “The war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, who fought back with his angels;” It is worth pointing out here that Michael is presented as “one of the chief princes.” We are trying to say here that there is a possibility that there are other archangels, although we are not 100% sure.

17. Three angels have names in the canonical books of the Bible – Daniel 8:16, Luke 1:19 and Luke 1:26

The canonical books of the Bible mention only the names of three angels. They are Gabriel, Michael, and the fallen angel, Lucifer or Satan. You can read about them in Luke 1:26, Luke 1:19, and Daniel 8:18.

18. Angels were created to worship and glorify God the Father and God the Son – Hebrews 1:6

In addition to acting as God’s spiritual messengers, angels were created to glorify and worship him. Our deduction is made from Hebrews 1:6 – “But when God was about to send his firstborn Son into the world, he said: All God’s angels must worship Him.

19. Angels report to God – Job 1:6

All angels report to God who is their creator. We’ve deduced this saying from Job 1:6 – When the day came for the heavenly beings to appear before the LORD, Satan was there among them.” Behold, the same thing happens in Job 2:1.

20. Other names of angels

Throughout the Bible, many names are used to point to angels of God. Below are some of the names:

  • Sons of God
  • Sons of the Almighty
  • Messengers
  • Chariots
  • Watchers
  • Hosts (military)

23. Angels will join all believers in the Heavenly Kingdom – Hebrews 12:22-23

When the right time comes, angels will join all believers in the Heavenly Kingdom. Let’s read from Hebrews 12:22-23 – “Instead, you come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, with its thousands of angels.”

24. Angels help humans – Hebrews 1:14

Hebrews 1:14 – “What are the angels, then? They are the spirits who serve God and are sent by him to help those who are to receive salvation.” There are several occasions in the Bible that we perceive angels helping the faithful. Angels ministered to Jesus Christ during his 40 days fasting in the desert. They helped him at the end of the fast when he was hungry. An angel brought answers from God to Daniel. Under God’s instructions, an angel protected Daniel from being consumed in the lion’s den. An angel kept Daniel’s three friends safe even in the midst of burning flames. An angel brought good news to Zechariah, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Paul. This is just to name a few.
