Christianity unlike what people believe is not actually a religion but a relationship with God through Christ. God’s initial plan for creation was to maintain a close relationship with man. But because of man’s evil desire to become like God, he sinned (Genesis). This marked the entrance of sin into the world. It is what Theologians refer to as the fall of man. As a result, man was sent out of Eden by God as punishment for his act. However, God did not completely abandon man but promised to send his only son, Jesus Christ to pay the price of our sins on the cross. He came and was crucified for our sins. Having its headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria, the Living Faith Church also popularly known as Winners Chapel has an estimated weekly attendance of 50,000 people. The Redeemed Church of God is located in Lagos, Nigeria. It was founded in the year 1953 by Josiah Akindayomi. As of the writing time, it has as General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye. With over 15,000,000 members around the World, the Apostolic Church is one of the largest Churches in Africa. It is located in Lagos, Nigeria. It was founded back in the year 1906 by the famous Apostle Ayo Joseph Babalola. Apostle Babalola happens to be the man who initiated the largest Christian revival that Nigeria has ever know. This revival which started with the resurrection of a dead child took place during the 1930’s and 1940’s. Today, the Church has branches all over the World. With headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe, the United Family International Church was founded in 2006 by Emmanuel Makandiwa. The Church attracts visitors from all over Africa and stands as a leader in its area of residence. It has an estimated weekly attendance of over 35,000 people. It is still under a continuous growth as new members keep on adding to its congregation.

6. Word of Life Bible Church / International Gospel Center: Weekly attendance – 35,000 people

With an estimated weekly attendance of 35,000 people, the Word of Life Bible Church is located in Ajamimogha Warri, Nigeria. The International Gospel Center was founded back in 1987 by Ayo Oritsejafor. The Church has several branches across Nigeria, Africa, and the World at large. Since its creation, it has been experiencing what we can refer to as an exponential growth. Although it started with a few members, we can currently talk of a weekly attendance of 35,000 people. With an estimated weekly attendance of 30,000 people, the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Church is located in Lagos, Nigeria. The Church was founded back in 1994 by Lazarus Muoka who claims to have had a vision from God which was instructing him to start the church. However, it was not until 2002 that Lazarus Muoka founded the church together with a few voluntary members. From then, the church has been experiencing an exponential growth.

Doxa Deo has its headquarters in Pretoria, South Africa. This multi-sight church was founded in 1996. It has branches in different countries on almost all the continents in the World. Its name comes from two different languages. Doxa coming from Greek means glory while Deo coming from Latin means God.
